On the afternoon of November 27, more than 30 students from the Department of Japanese Studies and students from Kyoto Sangyo University jointly organized an online exchange session under the direction of Associate Professor Dr. Kato Atsufumi (Kyoto Sangyo University) and Dr. Pham Hoang Hung (University of Social Sciences and Humanities).
“Cuisine”, “Cinema”, “COVID-19”, “Student Activities” were the four topics discussed by the students. During the exchange, students from Kyoto Sangyo University introduced how to make some traditional dishes, information about the COVID-19 epidemic situation in Japan, created a quiz game about movies, anime, etc. On the side of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, students from the Department of Japanese Studies introduced the meaning of traditional Tet dishes in Vietnam, introduced the film “The Scent of Green Papaya”, and the program “Oriental Night IX” of the Faculty of Oriental Studies. Students of the Japanese Department also spent time informing about Vietnam's campaign to join hands to fight Covid, sharing images of mutual love of Vietnamese people during the period of social isolation and meaningful support activities of the University for students such as the program "Zero-dong supermarket", "No Humanities student left behind"...
Students participating in the exchange received Certificates signed by two heads of departments: the Faculty of Sociology, Kyoto Sangyo University and the Faculty of Oriental Studies, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU.
According to Dr. Pham Hoang Hung, in both exchanges, reports and discussions were presented entirely in Japanese. Students of the Japanese Department made efforts to use and improve their Japanese in the process of exploiting documents, writing reports and discussing. In addition to contents such as culture, economy, society, etc., both exchanges mentioned current social issues such as the Covid-19 situation and how to respond in the two countries. Students from both countries are aware of the challenges of the times and the world, directly affecting their career guidance activities.
These activities have demonstrated the sustainable cooperative relationship between the Department of Japanese Studies and partner universities in Japan, and are also proof that with the development of the internet platform and the dynamism and enthusiasm of students, geographical distance or communication barriers between parties have not been difficult to erase.
