Introduction to USSH's quality assurance activities

With the mission of being a pioneer in training high-quality, highly qualified human resources; researching, creating and disseminating knowledge about social sciences and humanities, serving the cause of national construction and defense and international integration, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU has paid early attention to implementing quality assurance work. The Center for Education Quality Assurance was established in August 2006 under Decision No. 1784/QD-XHNV-TC dated August 21, 2006 of the President of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. The University is the first member of the Vietnam National University, Hanoi to have a specialized unit in quality assurance work.

Quality Assurance Policy Statement
The Principal and all staff, lecturers and employees of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi declare:Ensure quality and conduct reviews to continuously improve and enhance the quality of training, scientific research and community service activities to fulfill the declared mission.
Quality assurance policy focuses on the following contents:
- Implement training, scientific research and community service activities in accordance with the School's Mission Statement, Vision, Core Values and Educational Philosophy.
- Ensure the quality of learners' output, scientific research products and service products serving the community.
- Actively and periodically review to improve the quality and effectiveness of training, scientific research and community service activities to continue to affirm the leading position in the country and gradually reach regional and world standards in the field of social sciences and humanities.
Commitment to quality assurance
- Accountability: Periodically disclose performance indicators and other explanatory content as prescribed by law.
- Efficiency: Ensures alignment between strategy and implementation plans; management systems ensure employee performance is promoted; budget allocation is compatible with performance.
- Objectivity: Conduct self-assessment of quality based on criteria and independent inspection units; evaluate performance through domestic and international comparisons.
- Continuous improvement: Conduct continuous review and improvement, enhance the application of information technology in all areas of operation.
Quality Assurance Framework
The University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi refers to the AUN-QA internal quality assurance model, in which the four elements of the internal quality assurance system include: Monitoring tools, Assessment tools, Quality assurance processes and Quality assurance tools.

The internal quality assurance mechanism of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi is built for each department, in accordance with the defined quality assurance framework, to assess the following areas of activity:
- Quality of training programs and courses.
- Quality of teaching staff and support staff.
- Quality of teaching methods.
- Quality of testing and assessment of learners.
- Quality of service to support learners.
- Quality of resources and facilities.
- Quality of scientific research.
- Quality of service to the community.
Quality Assurance Cycle
To carry out continuous review and improvement, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi has agreed to apply a quality management cycle consisting of four steps at all levels and scales of operation: Plan, Do, Check and Action, abbreviated as the PDCA Cycle.
Quality control results
- In 2022, the School completed the second cycle of educational institution quality assessment and was certified to meet quality standards for educational institutions according to the quality standards of the Ministry of Education and Training.
- By the end of 2023, 86% of undergraduate training programs will have been assessed and met quality standards according to the quality standards of the Ministry of Education and Training and AUN-QA; by the end of 2024, 100% of qualified undergraduate training programs will have completed external assessment according to quality standards recognized by the Ministry of Education and Training.
