THE WUR by Subjects 2024: VNU's Social Sciences field increases its ranking to top 501 - 600 in the world

This is the result just announced by Times Higher Education today, October 26, 2023, about the ranking by field - World University Ranking by Subjects 2024 (THE WUR by Subjects 2024).
The results of the Social Sciences field ranking of Hanoi National University in THE WUR by Subjects 2024
With the mission of being a pioneer in training high-quality, highly qualified human resources; researching, creating and disseminating knowledge about social sciences and humanities, over nearly 80 years of history, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi has affirmed its leading position in research and training in social sciences and humanities in Vietnam, making an important contribution to the world rankings of VNU in this field.
In the THE WUR by Subjects 2024 ranking, VNU continues to maintain the 6 fields that were ranked in the previous ranking and adds 2 new fields to be ranked: Clinical and Health and Education. The Education field was first evaluated by THE, and achieved a ranking of 401-500 in the world, being the first and only educational institution in Vietnam to be ranked, affirming the position of VNU in research and training in the field of education. The Clinical and Health field was also first evaluated by THE and ranked 601-800. Thus, VNU has 8/11 fields ranked by THE.
VNU is increasingly demonstrating its multidisciplinary and multi-field training position by continuously increasing the number of ranked fields through the rankings: from 2 ranked fields in the 2020 period, breaking through to 8 fields in the 2024 ranking period.
Specific positions of VNU in each field in the 2024 ranking:
1. Education: ranked 401 – 500;
2. Social Sciences: ranked 501 – 600;
3. Clinical and Health: ranked 601 – 800;
4. Business and Economics: ranked 601 – 800;
5. Life Sciences: ranked 801 – 1000;
6. Computer Sciences: ranked 801 – 1000;
7. Engineering: ranked 801 – 1000;
8. Physical Sciences: ranked 801 – 1000.

Rankings of fields ranked by THE WUR by Subjects of VNU through ranking periods
THE World University Ranking by Subjectusing data sources taken from surveys (conducted by THE), Scopus database (belonging to Elsevier Publishing House) and data provided by higher education institutions. In the 2024 ranking, THE used a new set of criteria (THE WUR 3.0) including 18 evaluation criteria with weights adjusted to suit each individual field (an increase of 5 criteria compared to THE WUR 2.0 in previous rankings) in 5 groups of criteria:
- Teaching;
- Research Environment;
- Quality (Research Quality);
- Technology transfer (Industry);
- International Outlook.
Previously, on September 28, 2023, THE ranking organization also announced the results of the 2024 world university rankings (THE WUR 2024), in which VNU was ranked in the 1201 - 1500 group out of 1904 ranked higher education institutions. This is also the ranking period with the most participating higher education institutions with 2673 higher education institutions from 127 countries and territories; continuing to consolidate its position in leading training activities in Vietnam when the Teaching criterion is ranked first in Vietnam.
