- Research purpose of the Thesis: The thesis studies China's "Belt and Road" Initiative in Southeast Asia, implementation practices and impacts on the region, and at the same time makes some suggestions and recommendations for Vietnam.
- Thesis research object: China's "Belt and Road" initiative in Southeast Asia.
- Methods:
Analytical and synthetic method, Policy analysis method, Historical and logical method, Comparative method, Forecasting method.
New contributions of the thesis:
  • The thesis systematically analyzes the “Belt and Road” after 10 years of implementation: content, objectives, nature, and implementation plan. In addition, the thesis clarifies the implementation process of the “Belt and Road” Initiative from 2013 to 2023 in a comprehensive and comprehensive manner on 5 main aspects of policy connection, infrastructure connection, currency connection, trade connection, and people connection.
  • The thesis comprehensively, deeply and systematically identifies the process of China implementing the "Belt and Road" in Southeast Asia from 2013 to 2023; clearly stating the positive and negative impacts on the Southeast Asian region after 10 years of implementation in the region in all fields from security, politics, culture - society and on ASEAN cooperation.
- The thesis points out the internal and external advantages and difficulties of the current “Belt and Road” Initiative. From there, it proposes scenarios and forecasts the movement trends of the Initiative in the coming time.
  • The thesis clarifies the process of Vietnam's participation in the "Belt and Road" from 2013 to 2023; provides an updated and systematic explanation of Vietnam's policy responses when participating in the "Belt and Road"; assesses the impacts of the "Belt and Road" on Vietnam; proposes policy recommendations for Vietnam when participating in the "Belt and Road" in particular, and the comprehensive relationship with China in general.

The dissertation analyzes the BRI after 10 years of implementation, detailing its objectives, nature, and implementation plans. Additionally, it comprehensively clarifies the BRI's implementation process from 2013 to 2023 in five main aspects: policy connectivity, financial connectivity, trade connectivity, infrastructure connectivity, and people-to-people connectivity.
The thesis deeply and systematically identifies the process of China's BRI implementation in Southeast Asia from 2013 to 2023, highlighting both positive and negative impacts on the region over the past 10 years across all areas, including, politics, culture, society, and ASEAN cooperation.
The thesis points out the current advantages and challenges of the BRI. From this, it proposes scenarios to forecast the future trends of the Initiative.
The thesis clarifies Vietnam's participation in the BRI from 2013 to 2023, providing a systematic analysis of Vietnam's policy response, evaluating the impacts of the BRI on Vietnam, and conflicting policy recommendations for Vietnam in participating in the BRI and in its comprehensive relationship with China.
