The Association of Former Teachers of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities - Vietnam National University, Hanoi was officially established at the first Congress on January 23, 2006. Up to now, it has passed the second Congress on January 6, 2012 and the third Congress on October 27, 2017, and the fourth Congress for the 2022-2027 term.
The Association of CGC of the School of Social Sciences and Humanities is under the leadership of the Association of CGC of VNU. Within the scope of the School, the Association of CGC is directed by the Party Committee and the Board of Directors and sponsored by the Trade Union.

The association has 6 branches including:
- Vietnamese Language Department;
- Foreign Language Association;
- Office of the Principal;
- History Branch (including History, Archives, International, Oriental, Information - Library, Anthropology);
- Literature Association (including Language, Literature, Journalism, Tourism);
- Philosophy Association (Philosophy, Politics, Psychology, Society, Social Management).
Functions and tasks
According to the charter of the Vietnam Teachers' Association, the Association was established to protect the legitimate rights and interests of its members, continue to contribute to the implementation of the education development strategy, promote the patriotic and revolutionary traditions, intellectual capacity and good qualities of teachers, care about the material and spiritual life, and express the aspirations of teachers after retirement.
Main activities

Organized political and cultural activities on major national and school anniversaries. Organized a number of seminars with the topics: "President Ho Chi Minh and the establishment of the University of Literature" (2010), "Uncle Ho and the School" on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of the day Uncle Ho sent his last letter to the education sector (2013), 70 years of tradition of the University of Literature (2015), "Memories of Russia" - a meeting of lecturers who are former students studying abroad in the Soviet Union on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the October Revolution in Russia (2017), Cultural activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Uncle Ho's Testament: "Hue Chau Van Heritage and Songs About Him" (2019).

Encourage retired teachers to continue to contribute to the training and scientific research of the University. Many teachers continue to teach, especially graduate classes, guide doctoral students, participate in and preside over scientific topics, participate in scientific councils, thesis and dissertation assessment councils, accept and evaluate research works. Some teachers have received State awards and many awards for scientific works completed during their retirement. Hanoi National University also awarded certificates of merit to a number of teachers with achievements in scientific research after retirement.

Coordinate with the School to celebrate the longevity of elderly teachers on the occasion of Lunar New Year every year. Branches and Faculty celebrate the longevity of seniors aged 70 and 75; the Association and School celebrate the longevity of seniors aged 80, 85, 90 and beyond.

Organize tours of historical sites and scenic spots for all members, on average once a semester. Many members participate, each trip has about 200-250 people. This is a good opportunity for members to meet and visit each other and learn more about new places and many historical events of the nation.

Visit sick teachers, coordinate with the School, Faculty and local authorities to pay condolences when teachers pass away.
The above tasks are assigned, some tasks are coordinated by the Association and the school, some tasks are carried out by the Branches and Faculties.
Organizing the Association's members is very important. After receiving the retirement decision, teachers should contact the Association's Branch Presidents and Vice Presidents of their units to participate in the Association's activities. At the same time, the Association's staff also need to pay attention to welcoming new members so that the Association's activities can develop further, creating a joyful atmosphere for retired teachers in our school.
During the past 3 terms, the Association of Social Workers of the School of Social Sciences and Humanities has been active, under the close guidance of the Party Committee and the Board of Directors, the effective sponsorship of the Trade Union and the positive response of a large number of members, so it has achieved some remarkable results.
In November 2009, the Association of Former Teachers of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities received a certificate of merit from the Central Committee of the Vietnam Association of Former Teachers signed by Professor, Academician Pham Minh Hac - President of the Association.
In December 2017, the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities received a Certificate of Merit from the Director of Vietnam National University, Hanoi.
