Dr. Florian Feyerabend, Chief Representative of Konrad Adenauer Stiftung Foundation in Vietnam, speaking
The KAS Foundation representative also acknowledged the very practical and effective cooperation efforts of the School and the Faculties in the recent past and hoped that the two sides would continue to promote further exchanges of lecturers and students; organize scientific seminars, publish publications; organize competitions to learn about the culture and history of the two countries; award scholarships, etc.
In its role, the German Embassy in Vietnam is ready to support, promote and connect these cooperation projects between the two sides – Deputy Ambassador Simon Kreye affirmed.
Also during his visit to the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Mr. Simon Kreye had a discussion and shared with the lecturers and students of the International Relations Department of the University.
Deputy Ambassador Simon Kreye gave an overview of Germany's history, culture, economy, education and foreign policy, emphasizing: The Federal Republic of Germany is located in the heart of Europe. It is a democratic, international country with a rich heritage and a thriving economy. International cooperation is the foundation of Germany's foreign policy and always pursues the goal of working for peace, security, democracy and human rights around the world. In its economic development strategy, Germany aims to set a standard in climate policy with a commitment to: by 2030, reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 65% compared to 1990 levels; reduce emissions by 88% by 2040 and become greenhouse gas neutral by 2045, while actively participating in projects to prevent and limit the negative impacts of climate change globally.
Regarding the bilateral relations between Vietnam and Germany in the fields of politics, economics, culture, science and education, the report affirmed: Since 2011, Germany and Vietnam have had a “strategic partnership” with cooperation projects at all levels and in many policy areas. Germany and Vietnam consider each other important partners, working together to maintain world peace on the basis of respect for international law, multilateralism, global free trade and investment as well as active protection of the environment and climate.
Bilateral cultural and educational relations between the two countries are also developing well. Many cultural, educational and scientific organizations (such as the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), Goethe Institute, Vietnam-Germany University, etc.) are operating very effectively in Vietnam. And more than 100,000 Vietnamese people who have worked or studied in Germany form a unique bridge between the two countries, maintaining close cooperation and enhancing common interests.
Also at the meeting, lecturers and students of the School had a valuable opportunity to share and exchange directly with the Deputy Ambassador, thereby gaining a deeper understanding of Germany's position in the world, the goals of the German government as well as Germany's relationship with other countries, especially with Vietnam, and possible exchange and study opportunities for Vietnamese students in Germany.
Deputy Ambassador Simon Kreye highly appreciated the boldness, confidence and deep understanding of Vietnamese students, especially those majoring in International Relations from two leading universities of Social Sciences and Humanities in Vietnam. At the same time, he also shared about the study encouragement policies and scholarships of the German government as well as leading universities in Germany for international students. The German Embassy in Vietnam is ready to be a bridge for students to learn about culture, history and have the opportunity to study in the two countries.
The sharing of Deputy Ambassador Simon Kreye is very useful and meaningful for lecturers and students, not only to equip them with the most updated knowledge in the field of international relations, but also for students from domestic universities to exchange and learn from each other, and connect with opportunities for study and exchange abroad.
