More opportunities for USSH students to exchange and learn about China

On April 12, at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Associate Professor Dr. Dao Thanh Truong - Vice Principal of the school had the first meeting with representatives of the Center for Chinese Language Teaching Research - Ministry of Education of Singapore (SCCL Singapore).

On behalf of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, there was the participation of Associate Professor, Dr. Dao Thanh Truong - Vice Rector of the school, representatives of the Faculty of Oriental Studies and representatives of functional departments under the school.
On behalf of the Singapore Ministry of Education's Chinese Language Teaching Research Center (SCCL Singapore), there was the participation of Dr. Foo Suan Fong - Executive Director and delegation.
In his opening remarks, Vice President Dao Thanh Truong welcomed the first visit of the delegation from the SCCL Center to the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. The Vice President shared his wishes for cooperation and development between the school and the center. He emphasized: The University of Social Sciences and Humanities has a long tradition in language research, in which Chinese is always one of the languages ​​that the school pays attention to and promotes research. Every year, even during the Covid pandemic, the school receives from 400 to 800 foreign students to study at the school. The University of Social Sciences and Humanities has been in the process of designing and completing a summer course for foreign students to come to Vietnam to experience culture, learn Vietnamese and visit famous landmarks of Vietnam. With the trend of global cooperation and integration of the school, Vice President Dao Thanh Truong hopes to cooperate and create conditions for students who love Chinese to have the opportunity to study and exchange in Singapore in the near future.

Dr. Foo Suan Fong shared: The Chinese Language Teaching Research Center - Ministry of Education, Singapore was established with a main goal of teaching Chinese as a second language in a bilingual environment. SCCL not only teaches Chinese for practical use but is also an institute specializing in research on Chinese culture. In the future, the Center will target Southeast Asia, especially Vietnam - a multi-ethnic environment like Singapore. Dr. Foo Suan Fong hopes that in the future, the Center will welcome students from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities to study and visit Singapore, as well as welcome lecturers from the school to exchange and cooperate.

Based on the meeting with SCCL, Dr. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Hoa - Head of the Department of Chinese Studies, Faculty of Oriental Studies of the school also pointed out the similarities between the Faculty of Oriental Studies and SCCL, and highlighted the outstanding activities of Oriental Studies students.
Faculty of Oriental Studies, University of Social Sciences and Humanitiestraining 05 majors: Chinese Studies, Korean Studies, Japanese Studies, Indian Studies and Southeast Asian Studies. In which, the Chinese Studies major not only trains bachelors in Chinese language and research on China, but also supports doctoral training in the major. Every year, students of the major have the opportunity to go on field trips and participate in short-term courses at universities in China. Dr. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Hoa believes that, with the foundation of the above common points, the cooperation will be the first step for many opportunities for exchange and work between students and lecturers of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and CSSL.
