Welcoming Professor Duong Chinh Quyen and scientists from the Yunnan Academy of Social Sciences, Associate Professor, Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong (Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) introduced the strengths of the University in training and research, and emphasized the cooperation opportunities between the two units. With a team of leading experts in many fields, especially political science and philosophy, in the process of formation and development, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities is not only a leading unit in training high-quality human resources but also demonstrates national responsibility in proposing valuable policy advice to local ministries and branches in the field of social sciences and humanities.
Associate Professor, Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong shares information about the strengths of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and cooperation opportunities.
Vice Principal Dang Thi Thu Huong hopes that in the coming time, the two sides will promote the exchange of students, postgraduates and experts to participate in short-term exchange courses; co-organize and implement joint research projects; organize scientific seminars on topics of mutual interest; and jointly announce and publish research in prestigious scientific journals in the two countries.
Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Anh Cuong (Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Political Science) shared more information about the cooperation projects between the Faculty, the University and leading research institutes in China. In particular, the typical research cooperation project on President Ho Chi Minh during his revolutionary activities in Guangxi was successfully implemented by the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and the Guangxi Academy of Social Sciences. “With that experience, I believe that the opportunity and space for cooperation between VNU-USSH and the Yunnan Academy of Social Sciences is very large” – Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Anh Cuong emphasized.
Agreeing with the proposals of the representative of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Professor Duong Chinh Quyen shared: The Yunnan Academy of Social Sciences is a strong research unit in Yunnan, one of the leading research institutes in China, especially in the fields of social sciences and humanities: philosophy, regional studies, culture, religion. In addition, the Institute also has research centers on Southeast Asian countries and the South Asian region: Vietnam, Laos, Thailand, India... Every year, we regularly send staff for academic exchanges abroad, currently the Institute has many researchers and staff who have studied in Vietnam, including the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. We appreciate that effective cooperation and hope that in the coming time, the two sides will further expand cooperation.
Professor Duong Chinh Quyen added: “In 2025, the Yunnan Academy of Social Sciences will host the Multilateral Scientific Dialogue between China and Southeast Asian and South Asian countries. This is a large-scale scientific forum, which has been held annually for the past 10 years, attracting the participation of about 300 international scientists and experts from South Asian and Southeast Asian countries. We respectfully invite experts, scientists, and lecturers from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities to attend so that we can share research results on urgent issues facing countries as well as the entire region.”
At the end of the meeting, the leaders of the two sides agreed to soon sign an official cooperation document between the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and the Yunnan Academy of Social Sciences as a legal basis for specific cooperation in the coming time.
