Launch of the Institute of Journalism and Communication Training

Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Kim (Vice Principal of the School) presented the decision to establish the Institute of Journalism and Communication Training.

The ceremony was attended by Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen The Ky (Member of the Party Central Committee, General Director of the Voice of Vietnam), journalist Le Quoc Minh (Deputy General Director of VNA), journalist Ho Quang Loi (Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association), Dr. Pham Tat Thang (Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Communist Magazine), journalist Vu Dinh Thuong (Director of the Press Department, Central Propaganda Department) and representatives of many leading press agencies in Vietnam. Attending on the side of the University was Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Kim (Party Committee Secretary, Vice Principal of the University).

The Institute of Journalism and Communication was established on the basis of integrating the Faculty of Journalism and Communication and the Center for Journalism and Communication, and is the first model in the University of Social Sciences and Humanities to develop from the faculty level to the institute level in the spirit of university autonomy. The Institute's Director is Associate Professor, Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong.

Representing the Board of Directors, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Kim - Vice Principal of the School highly appreciated the continuous innovation and creativity efforts of the collective of teachers, staff and civil servants of the Institute. The Professor also emphasized that, facing the challenges and development opportunities of the digital age and mass media, the Institute must always strive to achieve the goal of rapid and in-depth development in the face of changes in social life, contributing to the overall development of the country.

Speaking at the ceremony, Associate Professor, Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong (Director of the Institute of Journalism and Communication Training) identified: the strategic goal of the Institute is to continue to further improve the content and methods of training, expand the types and diversify training products to reach regional and international quality standards.

“In addition to more smoothly combining theory and practice, the training program will pay more attention to new aspects of media technology and the characteristics of modern media audiences, to provide society with a source of media human resources with both professional ethics and professional capacity,good foreign language skills, multimedia journalism skills, press management skills and media administration, to meet the increasingly high demands of press and media agencies and employers," the Director shared.

Gratitude to veteran teachers

The Institute currently has 4 departments: Journalism, Multimedia Communication, PR - Advertising and Journalism and Media Management. Currently, in addition to 2 undergraduate majors: Journalism and Public Relations, the Institute undertakes 3 Master's training programs: Research-oriented Master of Journalism, Applied-oriented Master of Journalism, International joint Master of Media Management (with Stirling University, UK) and 01 PhD training program in Journalism.

Awarding prizes to valedictorians

In the coming academic year, the Institute will offer a Journalism program (high quality) at the undergraduate level, and two new Master's programs: Master of Journalism Management and Media Management, and Master of Journalism and Media Economics (in collaboration with the University of Economics, VNU Hanoi).

Awarding students with good academic performance

Professor Ha Minh Duc (former head of the Faculty of Journalism, Hanoi National University) sent a message to students: "I hope you pay attention to being confident, but not arrogant; self-reliant - not relying on others, self-respect - maintaining moral qualities and self-awareness - knowing how to control your own perception."

Institute of Journalism and Communication receives scholarships from employers
