Green Summer Program 2020: Promoting the professional strengths of member units of VNU

On the afternoon of October 9, 2020, in Ba Vi, within the framework of the 2020 summer youth volunteer campaign summary program, the VNU Youth Union and Ba Vi District Youth Union signed a cooperation agreement for the period 2020 - 2025.

Comrade Nguyen Hoang Giang - Deputy Secretary of the VNU Youth Union, Head of the Steering Committee of the 2020 Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign presented a summary of the campaign implemented in Ba Vi district.

Participating in the Green Summer program, VNU has 9 volunteer teams in 9 communes of Ba Vi district. After 3 months of the program, each volunteer team completed the projects and tasks that the youth had registered for, leaving good impressions and feelings for the people, and being recognized and highly appreciated by local authorities.

Youth projects in the campaign: VNU Youth Union supported 50 million VND to build a house of gratitude for Mr. Chu Huy Tho's family in Tong Lenh village, Tong Bat commune, Ba Vi district; Donated 02 "green knowledge" bookcases with over 200 books worth 10,000,000 VND (Faculty of International Affairs); Built a "Children's playground" with a contribution of 10,000,000 VND (University of Social Sciences and Humanities); Planted a "Youth Flower Road" on the road from National Highway 32 to Cam Thuong commune worth 2,000,000 VND (University of Social Sciences and Humanities); Renovated and repaired 01 house for the family of war invalid Nguyen Van Nghia, brother of martyr Nguyen Van Duoc worth 30,000,000 VND (Foreign Languages); Leveling the ground, pouring concrete at the martyrs' cemetery in Cam Linh commune, donating 04 stone benches to Cam Linh Secondary School with a total value of 25,000,000 VND (University of Technology); 02 houses of 02 poor families in Tong Bat commune were completely repainted worth 30,000,000 VND; Donating and planting rows of youth trees on the road next to the martyrs' cemetery in Phu Chau commune worth 8,000,000 VND (University of Education); Donating 02 "Natural Bookcases" worth 3,500,000 VND (University of Natural Sciences); Donating 02 "Learning Bookcases" worth 4,000,000 VND (Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy); Building a lighting system for the football field and the youth flower road worth 15,000,000 VND (Faculty of Law).

The VNU Youth Union campaign donated nearly 300 million VND and completed more than 1,200 working days on projects and youth work.

Based on the results achieved in the green summer program, the VNU Youth Union and Ba Vi District Youth Union agreed to sign a cooperation agreement for the period 2020-2025 to share resources, promote the potential and strengths of each side in coordinating activities to create a training environment for union members and young people to develop comprehensively; promote the image of VNU, join hands with the community to build a green - clean - beautiful, civilized and prosperous capital.

Speaking at the ceremony, comrade Nguyen Ngoc Tu - District Party Committee member, Secretary of Ba Vi District Youth Union emphasized "The cooperation program between the two units is a premise to organize more meaningful and practical programs to join hands with authorities at all levels and people of Ba Vi to achieve the goal of becoming a new rural district of Hanoi by 2023".

At the ceremony, comrade Truong Ngoc Kiem - Secretary of the VNU Youth Union said, "The VNU Youth Union hopes that the activities connecting the two units will not only stop at the 2020 Volunteer Summer campaign but will be spread and have sustainable value to join hands with Ba Vi youth in participating in building new rural areas, ensuring social security with specific, practical and effective programs."

In the coming years, based on the actual situation and needs, every year the Hanoi National University Youth Union and Ba Vi District Youth Union will agree on specific and practical coordination activities in the locality.
