On May 11, 2019, the contest "Startup based on intellectual property rights" took place at the 8th floor hall of building E, University of Social Sciences and Humanities.

Competition "Startup based on intellectual property rights"

The competition is organized by the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in collaboration with the National Office of Intellectual Property. The competition aims to link training with practical intellectual property activities, raise students' awareness of intellectual property and startups, encourage students' creativity, create conditions for connecting startup networks and developing startup ecosystems in universities associated with intellectual property.

The contest was attended by Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Kim (Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities), Mr. Dinh Huu Phi (Party Secretary, Director of the Department of Intellectual Property) along with representatives of participating universities and sponsors.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the contest, Mr. Dinh Huu Phi highly appreciated the coordination in organizing the contest between the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and the Department of Intellectual Property; at the same time, he also affirmed the great strides in improving the quality of intellectual property training in the school.

Speaking at the competition, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Kim also affirmed: “Creativity is the driving force for development of all countries. The University of Social Sciences and Humanities is the common home of the scientific community, creating an academic space for students and researchers to discuss, exchange, improve capacity and expand cooperation.”

The organizers presented flowers and souvenirs to the sponsors:HDS Law Firm, LINK & PARTNERS Law Firm LLC, FTU Innovation and Incubation Center (FIIS) and 9Fury Joint Stock Company.

The contest has the participation of 4 teams from the following schools: University of Social Sciences and Humanities; National Economics University; Hanoi Law University; Vietnam Women's Academy.

The organizing committee presented flowers and medals to representatives of the final teams.

The contest has 3 parts:

Part 1 - Greeting: The groups had creative and impressive introductions about their teams with content related to Intellectual Property and Startups.

Part 2 - IP Battle: took place with great tension and drama. Overcoming 10 questions, with knowledge and quick wit, 2 teams from the National Economics University and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities took the lead with 16 points.

Part 3: Startup - is the decisive round of the competition.

First prize awarded to the team from National Economics University

Second prize awarded to the team of University of Social Sciences and Humanities and Hanoi Law University

Third Prize went to the team from Vietnam Women's Academy.

The cheerleading award belongs to the team of University of Social Sciences and Humanities.

Awarding certificates of intellectual property and creative startups to units

Hanoi Law University brings to the competition the project “Law Coffee Chain for the Community”. The project is inspired by the contrast between the image of smiles during a good harvest and the bitter tears when coffee prices drop of Gia Lai farmers along with the lack of a space to share the law.

“The Law for Community Coffee Chain” helps to consume a portion of coffee for farmers, while also creating a co-working space for individuals, organizations interested in, working with, or those who want to learn about the law. The main project comes from a humane spirit: Finding another direction for Vietnamese agricultural products combined with the core value of an academic environment imbued with the Law.

Vietnam Women's Academy brings to the competition the project "Herbal health spa". The project originates from the need to start a business, solve the employment problem for women; at the same time, meet the needs of beauty and health care with natural herbs of women. The project hopes to bring a new economic direction and a method of beauty and health care for women.

The University of Social Sciences and Humanities brings to the competition the project “Edu Here”. Edu Here will be an intermediary unit connecting students with foreign language centers. Students who register for classes through Edu Here will have the opportunity to experience learning and receive discounts on courses. Foreign language centers will have a more effective and economical communication solution for their businesses.

Greeting contest of the team of University of Social Sciences and Humanities

The National Economics University brought to the competition the project "Anti-motion sickness bracelet" - a safe and economical solution to solve the problem of motion sickness that occurs in many people. The bracelet has a simple design: a bracelet with a width adjustment pin and a plastic bead placed on the Neiguan point when worn. This product has been manufactured and sold in many countries around the world and is imported to Vietnam for about 200,000 - 450,000 VND. The project improves the design of the product and provides the product for only 100,000 VND.

At the end of the three rounds, the judges awarded the first prize to the team from the National Economics University; the second prize to the teams from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and Hanoi Law University. The third prize went to the team from the Vietnam Women's Academy.

The competition is a stepping stone for Start-ups to continue pursuing their passion in the field of Intellectual Property and achieve success in the future.
