Teaching implementation in semester I, school year 2020-2021 in the new situation

As of today, Vietnam has gone through 22 consecutive days without detecting any Covid-19 cases in the community, and the work of controlling and preventing the Covid-19 epidemic has been basically under control. This is an important basis for the University of Social Sciences and Humanities to continue to both prevent and control the Covid-19 epidemic and ensure the implementation of the tasks of the 2020-2021 school year in the new context. Accordingly, the University requests that units notify lecturers and students of the following key tasks:

1. Teaching and learning schedule and format

The organization of training for semester I, academic year 2020-2021 for students of courses QH-2019 and earlier will switch to direct training in the classroom from October 5, 2020. For course QH-2020-X, the schedule will start from October 12, 2020.

2. Training in a combined form

The school encourages lecturers to register to teach by combining direct teaching in class and using the subject website system to support teaching in order to improve teaching effectiveness.

2.1 General principles:Using subject website software to support teaching and learning, not to replace classroom hours

2.2 Register:The school requires faculties to organize for lecturers to register for classes taught in the above combined form (Note: Each lecturer registers for no more than 3 courses taught in the combined form.). Before October 3, 2020, units send a list of staff registered to use the subject website to the School (via the Training Department). The registration form will be sent to units via email.

2.3 Request:Teaching content conveyed on the subject website system must ensure the following requirements:

- Course information:Convey information about the course, including at least clarifying the specific objectives of the course, regulations and incentives of the lecturer for students during the learning process, regulations on testing and assessment as well as formats of exercises or tests, instructions for students to be able to study the course well.

- Content of the course:Organize the content of the course according to weekly topics, closely following the objectives and teaching and learning process of the course.(7 weeks, 10 weeks, 15 weeks).Lecturers are responsible for the content published on the course website and must publicly disclose the regulations regarding the tasks students must perform when attending class.

- Notification:Provide students with instructions on learning tasks throughout the semester and each week to meet the criteria of promoting students' proactive learning and at the same time serve as a basis for assessing students' learning attitudes and diligence.

- Learning materials:Provide full information about the course materials and provide lectures (files). Encourage lecturers to provide available digital materials for students (files).

- Exercises/Forums:Organize at least 6 discussion topics or assign assignments with evaluation throughout the semester. Have professional measures to ensure students fully participate in discussions and assignments. Particularly for lecturers teaching applied computer science, they must organize discussions, assign assignments and evaluate students for at least 10 weeks.

2.4Policy for lecturers:

- Lecturers using the course website software are charged overtime according to the coefficient specified in the current internal spending regulations.

- Lecturers are supported with funding to develop content, organize discussions, and evaluate through signing contracts to innovate teaching methods with a funding level of 1,000,000 VND/class.(regardless of course duration)In case of the same subject but more than one class, the support level for the second class onwards is 25% of the support level for the first class.

3. Some other work

- Continue to remind lecturers, trainees and students to strictly implement Directive 19/CT-TTg, dated April 24, 2020 of the Prime Minister on continuing to prevent and control the Covid-19 epidemic in the new context.

- Regularly pay attention to, grasp and update information on the epidemic situation related to staff, lecturers and students of the unit; promptly report to the Board of Directors and the School's Epidemic Prevention Steering Committee if any problems arise at the unit.

To ensure training progress and quality, the School requests units to seriously implement the above work contents.
