956 students received bachelor's degrees

This morning, June 26, 2014, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities held the Graduation Ceremony for the 2013-2014 academic year for students of the courses QH-2008-X, QH-2009-X and QH-2010-X. Attending the graduation ceremony were Ms. Liurka Rodriguez Barrios - First Secretary, Deputy Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba in Vietnam; Ms. Thongny Duansakda - Second Secretary of the Embassy of the Lao People's Democratic Republic in Vietnam.

QH-2010-X course has 1,458 students enrolled, after 4 years of study, 1,324 are eligible to graduate this time (accounting for 90.8%). The total number of students who are eligible to graduate in early 2014 is 1,513, including 1,324 students of QH-2010-X course, 50 students of QH-2008-X course and 139 students of QH-2009-X course. At today's graduation ceremony, 956 students were honored to receive their bachelor's degrees from Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh - Principal of the School.

The summary report on the academic, research and training achievements of QH-2010-X students recorded impressive results:

QH-2010-X has 79 students completing the program ahead of schedule. The major with the highest number of graduates is the major of CLC Management Science with a rate of 100%. The faculty with the highest rate of graduates is the Faculty of Literature in both the majors of Literature and Han Nom with a rate of 84.85%.

Course QH-2010-X has 1,712 students participating in scientific research, accounting for 38.24%; of which 18 students won First Prize, 37 students won Second Prize, 34 students won Third Prize at school level, 03 students won Ministry-level Prize.

The number of students graduating with Excellent grades was 12 (accounting for 1.6% compared to 0.78% of the previous course); the number of students graduating with Good grades was 214 (accounting for 29.1% compared to 25.58% of the previous course); the number of students graduating with Fair grades was 544 (accounting for 69.1% compared to 66.31% of the previous course). The rate of students graduating with Excellent and Good grades increased by 4.27% compared to the previous school year.

The QH-2010-X course has many students receiving the title of Outstanding Young Face at the School and VNU levels, the titles of January Star, New Era Capital Youth, and certificates of merit from Youth Union and Association organizations at all levels.

The number of QH-2010-X students receiving non-budgetary scholarships was 324, an increase of 317% compared to the previous course. 39 students were admitted to the Party.

There are 05 Cuban students, 02 Lao students, 01 Chinese student, 01 Korean student receiving bachelor's degrees in Vietnamese Studies.

Some outstanding students of QH-2010-X were honored at the graduation ceremony such as: Student Nguyen Anh Tuan (Faculty of Oriental Studies) graduated as the valedictorian of the whole school with a GPA of 3.81, and was the Outstanding Young Face of VNU for two consecutive years. Student Phung Chi Kien (Faculty of Political Science) had a GPA of 3.67, and was an outstanding student of the school, VNU and the city for four consecutive years; was an excellent youth union secretary, with many contributions to the activities of the Youth Union, Association and community; and represented students of the capital to participate in the World Youth Camp. Students Nghiem Thi Thu Trang (Faculty of Linguistics) and Nguyen Thi Anh Ngoc (Faculty of Psychology) are both disabled students, but have strived to overcome difficulties to achieve Excellent academic results...

On behalf of the Party Committee and the Board of Directors of the University, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Van Kim (Vice Principal) sent the new graduates a message: Before becoming good scientists, researchers, experts, managers, teachers, practical activists, etc., you should be good citizens, living responsibly towards yourself, your family and society. Keep the beautiful memories of your years of studying at the University, contribute to maintaining and multiplying the 70-year tradition of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, and make the University famous with your own achievements and contributions in your future career and life.

Also at the graduation ceremony, 15 excellent graduates received Certificates of Merit from the Director of VNU; 280 students received Certificates of Merit from the University for graduating with Excellent grades.

In the 2013-2014 school year, the President of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities awarded certificates of merit to 22 students with excellent academic results; 17 students with achievements in Union and Association activities; 17 students who made efforts to overcome difficult circumstances to study well.
