This is the topic of the discussion organized by the VNU Trade Union in collaboration with the University of Social Sciences and Humanities Trade Union on January 25, 2013. Attending were comrade Nguyen Thi Thao, comrade Nguyen Quang Lieu - Vice President of VNU Trade Union and representatives of trade union members of VNU's departments.Strategic Mission (SMS) is a major policy of VNU on building and developing training majors and disciplines to international standards in order to create the premise and conditions for the development of departments, faculties, member universities and VNU to gradually reach international standards, thereby improving the quality of training, scientific research, knowledge transfer, enhancing competitiveness and developing the VNU brand. After more than 4 years of implementing the SMS, the first product of this program is 129 students of the QH-2008-X course in the fields of Electronics and Telecommunications, Computer Science, Business Administration and Linguistics who graduated in 2012. At the seminar, union members shared many experiences of individuals and of trade union organizations of departments in the process of implementing the SMS at the units. Because NVCL is a breakthrough task, requiring great efforts and a spirit of overcoming difficulties in practical training, many concerns have arisen during the implementation process. In that context, the trade union, as a spiritual support for the trainees and a fulcrum of solidarity for the staff, needs to take stronger action to resolve these difficulties. The discussion recorded many comments, stating that: the trade union needs to do better in propaganda and explanation work to raise awareness and determination of the trainees about the implementation of NVCL in the units; pay attention to listening to the difficulties, thoughts and aspirations of the trainees in the process of implementing NVCL in practice to have timely support; the trade union must take the lead and be the core in mobilizing cadres and civil servants to actively participate in NVCL as well as actively improve their professional qualifications, foreign languages as well as advocate for reform of the training management mechanism; The trade union closely and comprehensively coordinates with the government in reviewing and making recommendations to promptly adjust any unreasonable issues arising in the actual implementation of NVCL in all stages: program development, organizational processes, output standards, staff building, etc. In addition, opinions also affirm that the key to successfully implementing NVCL is to create consensus, solidarity and high determination in each group of staff. Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Duc Nghieu (Trade Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) said: Don't "lull yourself to sleep" with what you have, but look further. Consider NVCL as a way to gradually overcome yourself. We must start from what we have now, not just wait until we have all the favorable conditions before starting to do it. And we must make more efforts, otherwise what we are doing and have achieved initially will be in vain. Comrade Nguyen Thi Thao (Vice President of VNU Trade Union) commented: after 4 years of implementing NVCL, many initial difficulties have been resolved during the process, many goals, roadmaps, and solutions have been clearly defined and more feasible, therefore "the important issue is that we must trust and be of one mind".
