After the opening session, the Conference listened to the 2013-2014 school year summary report and the 2014-2015 school year orientation and tasks presented by Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Van Kim (Vice Principal of the School).
This year's interim report has specifically stated the results achieved in all aspects of the school's activities in the 2013-2014 school year, such as: undergraduate and postgraduate training; scientific research activities; staff organization; financial planning; infrastructure construction; foreign affairs and international cooperation; innovation in university governance and administrative reform; development of information and communication technology applications; quality assurance and development of quality culture; inspection and legal activities; political and ideological work, emulation and rewards; student affairs and national defense and security work. In each field, the existing problems and their causes are also specifically analyzed to find solutions for the coming school year.
Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Van Kim, Vice Principal of the School is presenting the 2013-2014 school year summary report and the direction and tasks for the 2014-2015 school year.
In addition, the report also focuses on emphasizing the directions, tasks and main solutions that need to be implemented in the next school year, the 2014-2015 school year, with the theme: Continuing innovation - pioneering - quality - discipline. This is the content that attracted the most comments from delegates, scientists, as well as the direction of VNU.
The School's 2013 financial issues were also reported by Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Thi Minh Hoa (Vice Principal of the School) to the conference.
At the meeting, the conference also listened to Associate Professor Dr. Pham Quang Minh (Vice Principal of the University) present a report on the results of 1 year of building a research university. According to the statistics of the contents according to the set of assessment criteria, the total score for the 2013-2014 school year was 622 points, achieving level 1 in the orientation of building to become a research university.

On behalf of the leaders of VNU, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huu Duc (Vice President of VNU) highly appreciated the achievements of the University in the past school year, and welcomed the directions that the University has determined for the next school year 2014 - 2015.
In the afternoon, the conference continued to listen to and discuss reports: report on doctoral training for staff and lecturers at the school and report on the school's foreign affairs in 5 years (2009 - 2014); report on the project to build the Institute of Culture and Arts.

Summarizing the conference, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh emphasized a number of issues that the School needs to pay attention to in the coming time:
- In the coming school year, not only the University of Social Sciences and Humanities but also the entire Vietnamese higher education system will implement Resolution 8 of the Central Committee, fundamentally and comprehensively reforming education and training. In that situation, how will the University orient its development? All these issues need to be specifically defined in the University's development strategy.
- In the coming school year, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in particular and other universities in general will begin to implement the tasks and plans for the 2014-2015 school year in the context of many changes in the country, region and the world. This will have impacts on the development orientation of the School.
- The next school year is also the year that the University of Social Sciences and Humanities will move to a new term. This is a very important event affecting the development of the University.
Regarding the project to establish an Institute of Culture and Arts, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh also agreed with most of the opinions expressed at the conference on the policy of establishing an Institute of Culture and Arts in the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. According to the Professor, the establishment of an Institute of Culture and Arts will contribute to integrating the school's strengths, diversifying training programs, and promoting the school's position in the current context of integration and competition.
