Magazine born
On May 16, 2015, the Ministry of Information and Communications issued a Decision to establish the Journal of Social Sciences and Humanities (JOSSH). According to the Decision, JOSSH is allowed to publish 06 issues/year, including 05 issues in Vietnamese and 01 issue in English. From 2016, JOSSH will periodically publish 04 issues in Vietnamese and 02 issues in English/year. Each issue of the Journal has a maximum capacity of 200 pages and is published in 500 copies/issue (from April 2016, 400 copies/issue will be published).
Mission and vision
Mission:JOSSH is an academic exchange forum, introducing new and high-quality scientific research results of social sciences and humanities at home and abroad, serving the cause of national construction and development, promoting international integration in the context of globalization.
Vision:By 2030, JOSSH will achieve international standards listed in SCOPUS or ISI.
Target
Building JOSSH into a leading journal in Vietnam, listed among prestigious journals in the world (SCOPUS and ISI), considering novelty, honesty, objectivity and creativity as the core operating principles of the journal, contributing to the cause of national construction and development in the context of international integration.
Staff
The JOSSH Editorial Board consists of 37 members, of which 31 members are Vietnamese scientists in the field of social sciences and humanities, and 06 members are leading Vietnam scholars from the United States, Australia, Japan, France and Denmark. In addition to the Editorial Board, the JOSSH staff includes: Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh, Editor-in-Chief; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Van Quan, Deputy Editor-in-Chief; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Tuan Anh, Editor-in-Chief; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Viet Nghia, Head of the Administrative Department; M.A. Phan Van Kien, Deputy Editor-in-Chief; M.A. Tran Xuan Hung, Vietnamese Editor; Associate Editor Vu Thi Binh Minh and Etienne Mahler, English Editors; and Associate Editor Nguyen Thi Huyen, Administrative Officer.
Activities and achievements
From 2015 to 2018, JOSSH received 623 articles from domestic and foreign scientists. The number of articles from foreign scientists was 28, accounting for 4.49% (03 articles in Vietnamese; 25 articles in English); The number of published articles was 20/28, accounting for 71.42%. The number of articles from domestic scientists was 595, accounting for 95.51%. Of which, the number of published articles was 321, accounting for 51.52%. The number of articles rejected by reviewers was 227, accounting for 36.43%. The number of articles that authors requested to withdraw, journals rejected and are being reviewed was 75, accounting for 12.05%.
Of the total 623 articles submitted to the journal: The number of research and discussion articles is 599, accounting for 96.14%; the number of book reviews is 14, accounting for 2.24%; the number of scientific information articles is 10, accounting for 1.6%. JOSSH has published 28 issues. The total number of pages in the published issues is 3896 pages. The total number of printed copies is 10,700 copies.
JOSSH has been sent to the Vietnam Study Group; units in the school, VNU, universities; major libraries; research centers; research institutes; journals related to social sciences and humanities in Vietnam and some countries.
The Journal's website is built on the Open Journal Management open source system, located athttp://journal.ussh.vnu.edu.vn. JOSSH's articles are listed in the citation systems of Crossref (DOI), Google Scholars, Worldcat, Openarchives, and EBSCOHOST.
JOSSH has been accepted by the State Council of Professors to be included in the list of journals that are scored for works in 08 Councils of Professors of various disciplines and interdisciplinary disciplines, including the Council of Professors of Education, the Council of Professors of Law, the Council of Professors of Linguistics, the Council of Professors of History-Archaeology-Ethnology, the Council of Professors of Psychology, the Council of Professors of Philosophy-Sociology-Politics, the Council of Professors of Culture-Arts-Sports, and the Council of Professors of Literature.
Operational orientation
Closely follow the Party and State's policies and guidelines, assess the current situation, introduce international experiences, new theoretical and theoretical issues, promptly reflect and propose solutions to resolve and develop the country's economy, society and culture to contribute to promoting industrialization, modernization and international integration.
Continuously improve the quality and practicality of the journal in the direction of diversifying content and meeting the requirements of developing social sciences and humanities; fundamentally and comprehensively innovating the country's education and training.
Support the publication of quality articles according to the commitment of scientific topics; Timely select and introduce presentations and articles at scientific conferences; Post articles by doctoral students and graduate students that meet the requirements of scientific quality.
Establish a network of scientists (domestic and international) to participate in writing and reviewing articles for the journal; Promote the international integration process by publishing and promoting publications in English. Connect and coordinate with faculties and units in the school to introduce and promote the journal abroad; and invite foreign professors and experts to participate in writing and reviewing articles for the journal.
Manage the process of sending - receiving - reviewing and publishing articles on JOSSH using the Journal Management software. Articles published on JOSSH are openly accessible on the website. Articles accepted for publication will be published on the website first (Online first).
Cooperate with foreign publishers/journals and foreign data services so that by 2022, the English issue of the Journal will be published by a foreign publisher; articles will be archived in international databases.
