Dr. Philip Calvert (Leader, School of Information Management, Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand) gave a presentation and discussion with staff, lecturers and postgraduate students of the Faculty of Information and Library Science on the topic "Modern Library" on May 4, 2012.
Dr. Philip Calvert (Leader, School of Information Management, Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand) gave a presentation and discussion with staff, lecturers and postgraduate students of the Faculty of Information and Library Science on the topic "Modern Library" on May 4, 2012.The main content of the presentation that Dr. Philip Calvert focused on was: the role of technology in building modern libraries; challenges for libraries when choosing and applying modern technology in the context of technology explosion; approaches and use of technology for students of information and library science; modern libraries in the trend of connection and interaction through "social media" - social networks, web 2.0...; information users in modern libraries. Dr. Philip Calvert and staff, lecturers and students of the Faculty of Information and Library Science exchanged and discussed the topics of web 2.0, access points in modern libraries, characteristics of modern libraries, the issue of digitizing documents with copyright challenges, software for building digital libraries, technology products to support special information users... Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Thi Quy, Head of the Faculty of Information and Library Science, on behalf of the staff and students of the Faculty, thanked Dr. Calvert was enthusiastic and devoted her valuable time to this presentation. Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Thi Quy expressed her hope that the cooperation between the Faculty, Dr. Philip Calvert and Victoria University of Wellington will continue to develop further in the future. Dr. Calvert thanked the warm welcome and enthusiastic working spirit of the teachers and students of the Faculty of Information and Library. He also expressed his confidence in the cooperation between the two sides in the future.
