At the meeting, Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh briefly introduced the history of establishment, development strategy, training situation, scientific research, and students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. The Rector said that the University, on the one hand, implements a strategy to strengthen international relations, and on the other hand, always pays attention to maintaining and expanding relations with domestic partners. Therefore, relations with training institutions such as the Coast Guard Training and Professional Development Center are very important.
On behalf of the Center, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Duc Do informed Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh about a number of exchange and friendship activities between the Youth Unions of the two units in the past time. These are practical activities, contributing to connecting students between the two sides and need to be maintained regularly every year. In addition, he hopes that the School will contribute to fostering and improving knowledge of politics, history, law, and international relations for the Center's staff and students. Especially the contents related to preserving and protecting Vietnam's sovereignty over seas and islands.
At the meeting, the Youth Unions of both sides also agreed to sign a memorandum of understanding to establish a twinning relationship as soon as possible.
The Coast Guard Training and Professional Development Center was established in 1998 with the original name of the Coast Guard Training Center. This is a unit under the Coast Guard Command, with the function of training, coaching, and educating Coast Guard officers. Currently, the center is training 5 classes of technical and professional staff with the following majors: Ship control, information and reporting, ship engine operation, ship electricity and CSB ship weapons, to provide technical and professional human resources for the Coast Guard force.
