The content of the working session revolved around the implementation of the 7+1 bachelor's degree program between Silpakorn University and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. Accordingly, students from the Faculty of Arts, Silpakorn University will study 7 years in Thailand and 1 semester in Vietnam. The semester in Vietnam will last for 5 months, starting from 2019 after Thai students have completed the 5th semester at Silpakorn University. As planned, the content of the semester in Vietnam will include 6 subjects, including 3 subjects on advanced Vietnamese and 3 subjects focusing on knowledge of history, culture and society of Vietnam. The program is taught in both English and Vietnamese. This is the result of the Cooperation Agreement signed between the Faculty of Linguistics, University of Social Sciences and Humanities and the Faculty of Arts, Silpakorn University.
On behalf of the Board of Directors of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Thi Minh Hoa affirmed that the University is a prestigious institution in training and research in Social Sciences and Humanities. The University has a lot of experience in training and research in Vietnamese language, Vietnamese culture, and Vietnamese studies. The Thai Studies department of the University is also quite developed and every year the University sends students and lecturers to exchange study and research at leading universities in Thailand. Therefore, the University is fully capable of teaching Vietnamese as well as knowledge about Vietnam for Silpakorn University students.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Warangkana Nibhatsukit highly appreciated the warm welcome of the USSH and hoped that the two sides could soon implement the 7+1 training program. In the near future, Silpakorn University will send Thai students to participate in the summer course organized by the University for students to improve their Vietnamese language and learn about Vietnamese culture in June. At the same time, Silpakorn University is ready to welcome lecturers and students of the USSH to teach and study in Thailand.

At the meeting, the two universities also agreed to sign a memorandum of understanding at the university level this year, aiming to sign official cooperation documents between the Faculty of Arts of Silpakorn University and relevant units of the USSH.

Silpakorn University is a government-funded university in Bangkok, Thailand. It was founded in 1943 by an Italian art professor named Corrado Feroci, who adopted the Thai name Silpa Bhirasri when he became a Thai citizen. It is a leading university in Thailand for fine arts and archaeology. It has about 7,000 students.
