On the school side, there were the participation of Associate Professor Dr. Lai Quoc Khanh - Vice Principal of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Dr. Pham Hoang Hung - Head of Cooperation and Development Department, Associate Professor Dr. Bui Thanh Nam - Head of Training Department and Associate Professor Dr. Trinh Cam Lan - Head of Linguistics Department.
At the meeting, Vice President Lai Quoc Khanh emphasized the tradition of research and training in the fields of social sciences and humanities, and affirmed the importance of international cooperation and development between the school and universities around the world. Associate Professor, Dr. Lai Quoc Khanh shared: With the mission of being a pioneer in training high-quality, highly qualified human resources; researching, creating and disseminating knowledge in the field of social sciences and humanities, the school always attaches importance to strengthening cooperation with international educational and research organizations and prestigious scientists in the world. Currently, the school's scientific human resources have great potential in international research and training cooperation activities, with about 70% of lecturers holding a PhD degree and over 27% of lecturers holding the title of Professor, Associate Professor out of a total of nearly 600 staff and lecturers. Among them, many scientists are leading experts in the field of social sciences and humanities research nationwide.
Accordingly, the school has established cooperative relationships with 60 universities and research institutes in China. Chinese students and trainees studying at VNU-USSH in many different fields in programs from bachelor to master, doctorate, short-term training programs and are provided with the best conditions for studying, medical care, and cultural exchange with Vietnamese students.
Associate Professor Tang Khiem - Vice President of the Institute of International Languages and Cultures, Yunnan University of Finance and Economics shared about the opportunities for academic exchange as well as student exchange in the coming time. Yunnan University of Finance and Economics is one of the leading training institutions in the fields of economics, in which the leading is economics and management, with 4 PhD training programs. According to Associate Professor Tang Khiem, the school focuses on diversity in the learning and research process and aims at cultural exchanges between Vietnam and China in general and between the 3 schools in particular. The University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU, with its strength in social science research, together with the Institute of International Languages and Cultures, Yunnan University of Finance and Economics, will have extensive cooperation projects in the future. Moving forward, the school will send 29 excellent students from Yunnan to study and research at VNU – USSH, aiming at student exchange and experiencing Vietnamese culture.
Associate Professor, Dr. Lai Quoc Khanh - Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities discussed the possibility of exchanging Vietnamese - Chinese language training as well as joint research and scientific publishing.
Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Thanh Nam - Head of Training Department shared: International integration is the main goal of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU. The school always promotes educational culture and always ensures the ability to fulfill international commitments. In the past time, USSH - VNU has successfully signed about 400 memorandums of understanding with partners around the world, especially with universities and research institutes in China. Every year, the school also welcomes many international students and postgraduates to study, with an expectation of welcoming about 1,000 students this year. To create the best conditions for foreign students, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has many short-term programs, popularized in many languages to suit the needs of learners. With the consistent policy: "Serving learners, taking learners as the center", the University of Social Sciences and Humanities welcomes students from Yunnan to study and hopes to have the opportunity to welcome many teachers to research, teach and work at VNU - USSH.
