Photo exhibition, film screening about the Democratic People's Republic of Korea

On April 19, 2018, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities coordinated with the Embassy of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea in Vietnam to organize a photo exhibition and film screening about the country and people of North Korea on the occasion of the 106th birthday of the late President Kim Il Sung.

Speaking at the exhibition, Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh (Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) expressed his joy at welcoming North Korean Ambassador Kim Myong Gil and mentioned the long-standing diplomatic relationship between Vietnam and North Korea. The photo exhibition and film screening will be a good opportunity for teachers and students to learn about the country and people of North Korea.

In response to the sentiments from the University, Ambassador Kim Myong Gil expressed his gratitude for the attention of all staff, lecturers and students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities towards the country of North Korea. In addition, he shared information about the ideology and contributions of the late President Kim Il Sung to the people of North Korea; the founding of the Workers' Party of Korea; and the development orientations of the country of North Korea in the present and the future.

Within the framework of the exhibition, many interesting and meaningful activities took place. With vivid photos of the country and people of North Korea in the fields of economics, politics, education, society..., the exhibition received the attention and love of students in the school.

After the opening ceremony, lecturers and students watched the film “Pyongyang Today” and had the opportunity to ask questions and discuss with the Ambassador about the country, culture and people of North Korea. The Ambassador expressed his hope that Vietnamese students will have more opportunities to visit and learn about North Korea in the future.

Currently, the two governments are discussing to create conditions for Vietnamese students to study and research in North Korea. In particular, the North Korean Ambassador and President Pham Quang Minh are also discussing the cooperation plan between the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and leading universities in North Korea.

At the end of the film screening, teachers and students of the School had the opportunity to enjoy dishes imbued with Korean culture personally prepared by the Ambassador's wife.
