VNU-USSH holds an extended meeting of the Science and Training Council: Promoting development strategy and celebrating important milestones

On June 4, 2024, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU-USSH), held a meeting of the Science and Training Council with the participation of members of the Science and Training Council and key leaders of the University. The meeting was chaired by Prof. Dr. Phung Huu Phu, Chairman of the Science and Training Council of the University.

In this meeting, delegates discussed and gave important opinions related to many strategic projects, contributing to the sustainable development and quality improvement of the School.
Project to compile and publish books to celebrate the 80th anniversary of tradition and 30th anniversary of the School's founding
One of the key contents of the meeting was the Project to compile and publish a book to celebrate the 80th anniversary of tradition and the 30th anniversary of the school's founding. This is a project of great significance, aiming to record important milestones in the development journey of VNU-USSH. Dr. Trinh Van Dinh - Head of the Department of Scientific Research Management emphasized the importance of preserving and transmitting the historical and cultural values ​​of the school through generations, while at the same time arousing pride in staff, lecturers, students and alumni.
Proposal to supplement sector and specialized planning
The Council also focused on discussing proposals to supplement the planning of training majors and disciplines. Delegates considered the needs and development trends of society to propose new majors that are suitable for practice and meet the needs of the labor market. This is to ensure that VNU-USSH continuously innovates and improves the quality of training, maintaining its pioneering position in the field of social sciences and humanities. In particular, the majors/disciplines proposed to be supplemented in the planning include: Vietnamese Language and Vietnamese Culture, Multimedia Communications, Human Resource Management, International Development Studies, and Clinical Counseling Psychology.
Vietnamese Proficiency Test Project
Another important content of the meeting was to collect opinions on the Vietnamese Proficiency Test Project. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Thanh Nam - Vice Chairman of the School Board, Head of Training Department presented the project's objectives to comprehensively assess the Vietnamese proficiency of students, students, and workers, contributing to improving the quality of training and the ability to integrate internationally. Delegates contributed many valuable opinions to complete the project, ensuring feasibility and effectiveness in implementation.

Based on the opinions exchanged at the Conference, Prof. Dr. Phung Huu Phu - Chairman of the Science and Training Council concluded:
1. The project of compiling and publishing books to celebrate the 80th anniversary of tradition and the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the University is elaborately and seriously constructed, with great vision and significance, practically serving the work of training, scientific research, training and fostering staff, contributing to the reputation and prestige of the University. We should not consider this set of books as temporary in nature but should consider it as a special project/publication printed and presented in a unified manner to demonstrate the characteristics of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, creating the reputation and position of the University. In the process of implementing the set of publications, it is necessary to calculate, closely direct, and tightly organize in combination with the investment of reasonable resources.
2. The Council also agreed and highly supported the proposal to supplement the planning, industry/specialization. Through the proposed contents, it can be seen that the training units have been proactive, based on training practices, market fluctuations, and social requirements to propose to supplement the planning of appropriate industries and specializations. The industries proposed to be added to the planning are all highly applicable industries, suitable for the needs of society.
3. The Council highly appreciated the objective of the school-level Vietnamese proficiency test project. The objective of the project is to comprehensively assess the Vietnamese proficiency of students and workers, contributing to improving the quality of training and the ability to integrate internationally. The Project Board is requested to accept valuable comments to complete the project, ensuring feasibility and effectiveness in implementation.
4. In addition, the Science and Training Council also recommends that the School Board pay more attention to the development of the High School for the Gifted in Social Sciences and Humanities. Over the past time, the High School for the Gifted has also contributed to the prestige and reputation of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. We should consider this a place to train talented people early, a key and reliable address to nurture talented people early, and supplement quality input sources for universities.
In addition, clearly defining the medium-term vision towards the long-term vision is necessary and important because we are in a period of rapid and continuous change, so thinking must also be constantly renewed. In particular, we need to focus on researching the smart university model and building an innovative university ecosystem. Connection, communication, and sharing are the soul of a university.
The Council of Science and Training, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU, has unanimously approved the Project to compile and publish books to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the tradition and 30th anniversary of the establishment of the University, Proposal to supplement the planning of majors and majors; Project to assess Vietnamese language proficiency. With the dedicated direction and clear strategy from Prof. Dr. Phung Huu Phu and the entire key leadership team, VNU-USSH will certainly develop further and continue to affirm its position as one of the leading academic centers in the country, actively contributing to the education and science career of Vietnam.
