2. Objectives of the training program(general goal, specific goal)
2.1. General objectives
The Master's program in Information Science - Library equips learners with complete and updated knowledge, skills and attitudes about Information Science - Library so that after graduation, they become high-quality human resources. These human resources have a solid grasp of theory and a firm grasp of the industry's theories. They have a high level of practice, good ability and creativity when working independently. They have the ability to quickly detect and scientifically solve problems in the specialized field they have been trained in.
2.2. Specific objectives
The Master's program in Information Technology has the specific goal of equipping students with the following knowledge, skills, competencies and research capabilities after graduation:
2.2.1. About knowledge:
Equip learners with the core theories, techniques and professional skills of modern Information - Library science in selecting, collecting, supplementing, developing information resources; Processing, analyzing, synthesizing, storing, preserving, organizing and creating modern information - library products and services. Equip learners with knowledge and methods to evaluate the current status of the unit's operations and propose solutions to improve the quality and efficiency of work. Equip learners with knowledge of modern information agency and library management software and know how to evaluate the quality of software, as well as methods to detect, select, implement research and apply modern technologies to professional practice and methods of scientific research in Information - Library.
2.2.2. About skills:
Equip learners with operational skills in developing information resources, cataloging, processing content, organizing storage, preservation, designing and building modern information products and services, and libraries to serve different information users. At the same time, equip learners with skills in comparing specialized information products and services, skills in management, direction, and making quick decisions to solve problems; skills in evaluating and organizing research and teaching in Information Science.
2.2.3. About capacity:
The training program will equip learners with enough confidence to take on jobs well in all positions in information agencies and libraries in a proactive manner: Able to orient activities for all types of information agencies and libraries in a modern direction: analyze, design systems, determine functions, tasks and build organizational structures, and manage according to the automation model. Able to share and cooperate with domestic and foreign partners in the field of expertise. Able to teach Information Science well in universities and colleges.
2.2.4.About research:
The training program will equip learners with scientific thinking methods; Research methods for information and library science. Know how to choose research problems that are urgent in theory and practice. Know how to evaluate new and advanced achievements of information and library science in the world to apply them appropriately in Vietnam. Fully equip them with knowledge to be able to orient their research in accordance with issues related to the Party and State's guidelines, policies and strategies on socio-economy in general and information and library career in particular in the period of industrialization and modernization of the country.
2.2.5. On moral qualities
The training program aims to help learners practice and develop personal ethics, professional ethics and social ethics, including: honesty, seriousness, respect for others and personal self-esteem, open-mindedness and a sense of improvement, responsibility in work, proactiveness, independence and creativity, responsibility to the community, compliance with the law and knowing how to protect the truth, supporting innovation and progress; always thinking and acting towards the goal of scientifically organizing and effectively controlling information - library activities for the common development of the unit.
3. Admission information
3.1. Entrance exam subjects
- Foreign Language: choose 1 of 5 languages: English, Russian, French, German, Chinese.
3.2. Admission objects
Candidates applying for the master's program in Information Science, majoring in Information Science - Library must have a clear personal history and not be currently under criminal prosecution.
3.2.1. About the diploma
- Have a university degree in the right major (Information Science) and a major suitable for Information Science such as: Library Science;
- Or have a college degreerelated industryIn the field of Information Science, have completed additional knowledge to have a level equivalent to a university degree in Information Science: Archival Science; History; Museum Science; Publishing; Journalism, International Communication; Public Relations; Cultural Studies; Cultural Management; Office Administration; Management Information Systems; Management Science.
3.2.2. About work experience
+ People with a university degree in the correct or appropriate major for the major they registered for the exam and with a good or higher ranking can take the exam immediately after graduation;
+ People with a university degree in the correct or appropriate major to the major they registered for the exam but with an average ranking must have at least one year of work experience in a professional field appropriate to the major they registered for the exam (calculated from the date of signing the Decision on recognition of university graduation to the date of taking the exam);
+ Have a university degree in a related field: have at least one year of working experience in a field related to information and library (including those with a good degree or higher) and must have completed a supplementary knowledge program prescribed by the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (24 credits).

3.3.2. Related industries
The university graduation major is determined to be a major close to the major or major participating in the master's degree training exam when it is in the same group of majors in the List of Vietnamese education and training level III (except for the cases specified in Clause 1 of this Article) or the training programs of these two majors at the university level differ from 10% to 40% in both content and study time of the major's knowledge block (total number of class periods or credits or credits of the major's knowledge block).
