2. Objectives of the training program

2.1. General objectives

Master's degree programTheory, history and criticism of cinema and televisionresearch-oriented; the general goal is to help learners master theory, have high level of practice, be able to work independently, creatively and have the ability to detect and solve problems in the field.Theory, history and criticism of cinema and television; contribute to meeting the increasing demand for human resources with expertise in theoretical research and film and television criticism.

2.2. Specific objectives

- Learners are able to understand the socio-cultural and political context of cinematographic activities in the modern world;

- Learners have the ability to receive, analyze and evaluate cinematic works;

- Learners are able to create cinematic works.

3. Admission information

3.1. Entrance exam subjects

  • Basic Exam:Overview of Vietnamese culture
  • Basic Exam:Introduction to Art Studies
  • Foreign Language: 1 of 5 languages: English, Russian, French, German, Chinese.

3.2. Admission objects

Candidates applying for the master's program in Theory, History and Criticism of Film and Television must fully meet the following conditions:

- Have a clear personal history, not currently being prosecuted for criminal liability;

- Be healthy enough to study;

- About the degree:

  • People with a university degree in a field suitable for the major of Theory, History and Criticism of Film and Television;
  • People with a university degree in a field close to the major of Theory, History and Criticism of Film and Television must take additional courses before taking the exam;
  • People with a university degree in another field have a graduation certificateMovie project(Ford Foundation and University of Social Sciences and Humanities);

- Regarding work experience: Those who have a good university degree or higher in a field that is suitable or close to the major of History, Theory and Criticism of Cinema and Television can take the exam immediately after graduation. Those who have graduated with a less than good degree in a field that is suitable or close to the major, and those who are in other majors must have at least one year of work experience in the field of Theory, History and Criticism of Cinema and Television from the date of the decision to recognize university graduation to the date of submitting the application for the exam.

3.4. Priority subjects and policies

  • Priority Objects

+ Candidates who have worked continuously for 2 years or more (as of the application deadline) in localities defined as Region 1 in the current regulations on regular university and college admissions. In this case, candidates must have a decision to accept work or transfer or secondment from a competent agency or organization;

+ War invalids, people enjoying policies like war invalids;

+ Martyr's child;

+ Hero of the armed forces, hero of labor;

+ Ethnic minorities with permanent residence registration for 2 years or more (as of the application deadline) in localities designated as Area 1 in the current regulations on regular university and college admissions;

+ Children of resistance fighters exposed to toxic chemicals, recognized by the Provincial People's Committee as having deformities, disabilities, and reduced ability to live independently and study due to the consequences of toxic chemicals.

  • Priority level

+ Candidates who are in the priority category specified in Clause 1 of this Article (including those who are in many priority categories) will have 10 points added to their exam results for the foreign language subject (on a scale of 100) if they are not exempted from the foreign language exam according to the regulations of the Regulations and 1 point added (on a scale of 10) for non-key subjects or competency assessment specified in Points b and c, Clause 1, Article 9, Regulations on Master's Training at Vietnam National University, Hanoi (issued with Decision No. 4668/QD-DHQGHN, as prescribed by the training unit)
