- Summary of new results of the thesis:
- The thesis has assessed the current status of parenting behavior and the current status of deviant school behavior in high school students. Specifically: Regarding parenting behavior, psychological control of children is the group of behaviors that high school students rate the highest, followed by supportive parents and finally parents controlling their children's behavior. However, the average scores of the three groups of behaviors are not too different, showing that, in addition to a typical parenting behavior, parents still use a combination of other types of behavior, depending on each situation and the specific behavior of their children.
- Regarding deviant school behavior, the majority of high school students have deviant school behavior at a below average level. Among the four groups of deviant school behavior, the group of behaviors violating school rules and other regulations has the highest level of violation, followed by the group of behaviors related to school communication and conduct, the third group is the group of school bullying behaviors, and the last is the group of behaviors related to sexuality.
- Regarding the relationship between deviant school behavior in high school students and parenting behavior: There is a close relationship between parenting behavior and deviant school behavior in high school students. Research shows that if parents have low supportive behavior, loose behavioral control but high psychological control, high school students will tend to increase deviant school behavior. On the contrary, parents with high supportive behavior, high behavioral control and low psychological control help reduce deviant school behavior in high school students.
- Regarding the factors that can predict the influence on the relationship: Family cohesion, regional cultural characteristics and parents' marital status are predicted to be three factors that influence the relationship between deviant school behavior in high school students and parenting behavior.
