2. Objectives of the training program

2.1. General objectives

- The general objective of the program is to train researchers and practitioners in the field of foreign affairs with high theoretical qualifications and appropriate practical skills, the ability to conduct independent research, and the ability to discover and solve new problems related to the field of foreign affairs.

2.2. Specific objectives

- Providing systematic and advanced knowledge of international relations theory, of basic issues of international relations in history as well as at present, of global and regional issues, and of world development trends;

- Providing systematic and advanced knowledge about foreign policy issues of the Vietnamese Revolution, history of Vietnam's foreign relations, especially during the Renovation period;

- Practice research methods on international issues and Vietnam's foreign affairs to draw lessons and make predictions and recommendations;

- Improve understanding and research skills on international issues, skills in applying theories and methods to practice in foreign affairs and work related to international cooperation of the country or agency;

- Can develop capacity in the fields of international relations work in central and local foreign affairs agencies, universities and research institutes, security agencies and press agencies, cultural and service establishments, domestic and foreign enterprises...

3. Admission information

- Entrance exam

  • Basic Exam:History of International Relations.
  • Basic Exam:Vietnam's foreign relations from 1945 to present.
  • Foreign Language:One of 5 languages: English, French, Russian, Chinese, German.  

- Admission objects

+ Degree:

  • Have a university degree in International Studies, International Relations or relevant International Studies;
  • Or have a university degree in the following majors: History, Philosophy, Economics, Law, Political Science, Asian Studies/Oriental Studies, Vietnamese Studies, Sociology, Cultural Studies, Anthropology, Religious Studies, Journalism, Public Relations, Foreign Information, Public Policy, Social Work, ... afterlearned additional knowledge(26 credits) to obtain a degree equivalent to a bachelor's degree in International Studies;

+Professional work experience:

  • People with a university degree in the same or similar major as the registered major can take the exam immediately after graduation;
  • People with a university degree in a related field must take additional courses and receive a certificate.
