The thesis aims to clarify the game symbol that covers the entire work "Defense of Luzhin" by Nabokov with many hidden meanings behind. The thesis uses the main approach of poetics combined with intertextual and semiotic approaches, analysis and synthesis operations. From there, we present research, evaluation, and prove that the game is a comprehensive symbol through clarifying the game expressed in the structure, characters and images of the work. From the analysis of the structure of the work and the combination of research through game theory, we come to the assertion that the game is almost a comprehensive symbol, expressing the content and meaning that the author Nabokov wants to express.

Abstract: Game as a symbol in Nabakov's novel The Luzhin Defense.
The thesis aims to clarify the game symbolism that covers the whole of Nabokov's “Luzhin Defense” with many hidden meanings. The thesis with the main approach which is poetics, which combines intertextual and semiotic approaches, analytical and synthesis operations. We thus provide research, evaluation, and proof that the game is an extensive symbol by clarifying the game expressed in the structure, characters and image of the work.
