10. Summary of thesis results:
The thesis has generalized and clarified the theoretical aspect of the issue of drought and saltwater intrusion response in the press and television on the basis of systematizing the basic concepts related to the topic. Thereby, it is affirmed that television performs 3 functions throughout: Propaganda, guidance; supervision and criticism; encouragement and motivation in drought and saltwater intrusion response. In addition, the thesis has developed a table of evaluation criteria, content, and form to serve as a basis for comparison, contrast, and comment on the quality of television works. The author surveyed 489 works on drought and saltwater intrusion response in the Mekong Delta from June 2020 to June 2021 on 3 television channels VTV1, VTV9, and VNews. The television works are rich in topics and content, expressed in different genres and forms, providing the most basic knowledge about drought and saltwater intrusion; have certain impacts on the awareness of the recipients. Focus on 4 groups of issues: Propaganda on the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's laws and policies; Providing basic information, developments of the drought and saltwater intrusion situation in the Mekong Delta; Consulting, disseminating knowledge, experience and giving recommendations, instructions on effective response to drought and saltwater intrusion; Introducing and praising good and effective models of drought and saltwater intrusion response. However, the news articles still have some limitations in content such as incomplete reflection. There is a lack of works that popularize knowledge as well as have high criticality.
The form of the works has some innovations and improvements towards being more intimate and vivid. Using reporters to lead the scene combined with graphics, charts as well as stringing together topics, perspectives, and focal points... creates a good impression on the public. However, some news articles still fall into the state of too much description, long comments with difficult to understand and dry data.
From the advantages and disadvantages of television works, the author boldly proposed solutions for the coming time. That is to raise awareness and strengthen the direction of the Party, the State, the Central and local ministries and agencies, and the press agencies for information activities on drought and saltwater intrusion response. Strengthen the connection and coordination between press agencies and relevant agencies. Television channels continue to innovate the content and form of information on drought and saltwater intrusion response in the Mekong Delta. It is necessary to develop topics and columns on climate change, drought and saltwater intrusion. In particular, press agencies need to build a team of journalists with solid professional knowledge, expertise, enthusiasm and understanding of this field. In addition, television channels can adjust the quantity, duration and frequency of broadcasting works on drought and saltwater intrusion response in the Mekong Delta accordingly.
