2. Objectives of the training program
2.1. General objectives
- Provide students with basic knowledge and a system of viewpoints of Marxism-Leninism, the Communist Party of Vietnam, and Ho Chi Minh Thought on religion as a basis for approaching specialized issues in the fields of theory, history, and the role of religion;
- Help students have a scientific method to approach general theoretical issues of religion, at the same time grasp some typical views on religion, as well as the current religious situation in the world and in Vietnam. Through that, students can interpret religious issues in Vietnam on the theoretical and practical levels to research and teach religious work and related fields.
2.2. Specific objectives
- Knowledge objectives: have basic, advanced and modern knowledge about Eastern, Western and Vietnamese religions and beliefs;
- Skill goals: Master the dialectical materialist and religious methodology in researching and teaching religious and belief issues;
- Capacity goals: able to conduct independent research and participate in research groups; grasp and solve theoretical problems raised by religious practice from a philosophical perspective;
- Goals on moral qualities: have courage, firm political stance; passionate, diligent, hard-working, eager to learn, serious at work.
3. Admission information
3.1. Admission form
- Entrance exam with the following subjects:
+ Basic exam:Marxist-Leninist philosophy(Non-philosophical)
+ Basic exam:General Religious Studies
+ Foreign language exam: choose 1 of 5 languages: English, Russian, French, German, Chinese.
3.2. Admission objects
Candidates applying for the master's program in religious studies must fully meet the following conditions:
- Have a clear personal history, not currently being prosecuted for criminal liability;
- Have a university degree in religious studies or a major relevant to religious studies; or have a regular university degree in a related field and have taken additional courses to have a level equivalent to a university degree in religious studies;
- Candidates are allowed to take the exam in the year they receive their university degree or in the year they receive their certificate of additional knowledge.
3.3. List of correct industries,suitable, close industry
- Correct major list: Religious Studies;
- List of suitable majors: Philosophy, Scientific Socialism, Political Education;
- List of related majors: Psychology, Sociology, Management Science, Anthropology, History, Political Science, Literature, Vietnam Studies, Linguistics, Journalism, Tourism Studies, Oriental Studies (domestic and foreign).
