On August 22, 2023, at the 8th floor Hall, 336 Nguyen Trai, University of Social Sciences and Humanities (USSH), Vietnam National University, Hanoi solemnly held the Conference of civil servants and employees and summarized the 2022-2023 school year.
The conference was honored to welcome Associate Professor Dr. Pham Bao Son (Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee, Chairman of the Inspection Committee, Vice President of Hanoi National University), along with representatives of affiliated departments, offices, and member schools of Hanoi National University; Professor Dr. Phung Huu Phu (Former Rector, Chairman of the Science and Training Council); Associate Professor Dr. Lam Ba Nam (Former Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, former Vice Rector, Chairman of the University's Association of Former Teachers).

The presidium chairing the conference included: President of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities Hoang Anh Tuan, Vice Presidents Dang Thi Thu Huong, Dao Thanh Truong, Lai Quoc Khanh and President of the Trade Union Ngo Thi Kieu Oanh.
On the side of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, there were Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan (Principal of the University), along with Vice Principals, representatives of the Trade Union Executive Committee, Youth Union, Student Association, especially the presence of 195 delegates representing all units of the University.
Speaking at the opening of the Conference, Principal Hoang Anh Tuan emphasized: The Conference is an opportunity for us to look back at the achievements we have made, to be happy, excited and confident. But more importantly, through the conference, the School leaders want to listen to the sharing, thoughts, aspirations as well as propose good solutions and ideas from lecturers, staff representing more than 500 staff of the School to successfully carry out the tasks of the new school year 2023-2024.

Rector Hoang Anh Tuan delivered the opening speech, expressing his thanks for the attention and close guidance of the VNU Board of Directors, and the efforts and dedication of the entire Board of Directors and more than 500 lecturers and staff of the University in the past school year.
With a short and concise report, Vice Principal Dang Thi Thu Huong outlined a comprehensive picture of the remarkable achievements and results in the 2022-2023 school year, emphasizing: Basically, all set targets have been successfully achieved.In the 2022-2023 school year, the school has had many bright spots in regular university training activities, training programs are standardized and increasingly improved in quality.
The 2022 regular university admissions have met the quantity and quality targets, including 04 high-quality training programs with 231 admitted candidates, reaching 112.68% of the set target and being the first year with the number of admitted candidates equal to or higher than the industry's standard program. Also in 2022, the University organizes 02 admission rounds with 44 master's training majors and 31 doctoral training majors. In which, master's admission is organized by reviewing documents and interviews (from round 2/2022) according to the new regulations of VNU. The total number of candidates admitted in 2022 for master's program: 310/300, reaching 103% of the assigned target, doctoral level: 129/129, reaching 100% of the assigned target, including foreigners. In addition, in the 2022-2023 school year, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has completed the accreditation of 12 training programs (including 1 training program according to AUN-QA standards and 11 training programs according to the standards of the Ministry of Education and Training). The fields of scientific research, politics and student affairs, university administration and management, communications and information technology also achieved very encouraging results.
That achievement comes from the great efforts, the serious hard work of the Board of Directors, all lecturers and staff of the School; the attention and close direction of the Party Committee of the Board of Directors of Vietnam National University, Hanoi. A full year of in-person learning after the Covid-19 pandemic with many difficulties, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has resolutely innovated according to the motto: taking tradition and academics as the foundation, modernity as the trend and taking learners as the center.

Vice Principal Dang Thi Thu Huong presented a report reviewing the achievements of the School in the 2022-2023 school year.
 
With very specific quantitative figures, Vice President Dao Thanh Truong analyzed in detail the results of implementing the resolution of the VC-NLĐ Conference for the 2022-2023 school year in all areas of operation. Notably, with 52 targets assigned by Hanoi National University, the University has completed most of the targets, with many targets exceeding the plan (some targets exceeded 200-300%).

One of the bright spots and outstanding achievements of the 2022-2023 school year is financial work. In the objective situation, the School encountered many difficulties due to the decrease in state investment budget, tuition fees did not increase, but with the determination and close direction of the Party Committee, the Board of Directors, the consensus of all staff and lecturers of the school, financial work has ensured compliance with state regulations, staff income increased compared to the previous school year, increased investment in scientific research of staff and students, especially active support for young staff.

Prof. Dr. Dao Thanh Truong (Vice Principal), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong (Vice Principal), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Do Thu Ha (Faculty of Oriental Studies), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Van Thinh (Faculty of History), MSc. Vu Thi Thu Hang (School Union).
The above titles are a recognition and encouragement of the dedication and contributions of individuals and groups to the education sector in general and VNU, University of Social Sciences and Humanities in particular.
Delegates attending the Conference exchanged, discussed and basically agreed with the content of the reports presented at the Conference, and also contributed a number of specific solutions to improve the quality of training, further promote scientific research activities and community service, and promote the strengths of the School.

Dr. Le Thi Thanh Tam (Head of the Department of Vietnamese Studies and Language) spoke at the Conference emphasizing solutions to attract a large number of foreigners to study and exchange academic knowledge at the University.

Speaking at the Conference, Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Bao Son congratulated and praised the achievements of the University in the past school year. In the context of many difficulties in the education sector last year, with the determination of the leaders and all lecturers, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has achieved many remarkable results, typically: undergraduate and graduate enrollment; attracting foreign students, international cooperation in training; focusing on investing in human resources, improving the lives and incomes of staff.

Vice President of VNU Pham Bao Son gave a speech of encouragement, recognizing the achievements of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, and also emphasized a number of key tasks that the University needs to focus on promoting in the coming time.
 
Deputy Director Pham Bao Son also emphasized that in the coming school year, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities needs to focus on a number of key tasks: scientific and technological research (number of international publications, establishment of strong research groups at the school and national university levels), prioritizing strong investment in key scientific research, paying attention to the progress of completing tasks and research topics at all levels; attracting high-quality staff; recruiting enough and qualified students for basic science majors; promoting short-term courses, training skills related to high-demand market fields: such as languages, tourism, journalism, communications, psychology, etc. At the same time, it is necessary to pay special attention to university rankings (investing to have ranked fields), affirming the position of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in the region and in the world.

Principal Hoang Anh Tuan, on behalf of the Board of Directors, presented flowers and congratulated the representative of the People's Inspectorate of the School.
Receiving the very dedicated guidance from Vice President Pham Bao Son, on behalf of the entire Board of Directors, staff and lecturers of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, President Hoang Anh Tuan once again expressed his deep gratitude for the attention, guidance and support of the Board of Directors of VNU, as well as Vice President Pham Bao Son personally.
Principal Hoang Anh Tuan emphasized: “The 2023-2024 school year is expected to have great difficulties and challenges: changes in the training regulations of the education sector, fierce competition between domestic training institutions, a shortage of staff with the title of Associate Professor or higher (the impact of Decree 50 on retirement age),... But with the direction and facilitation of the Board of Directors of VNU, the determination of the Board of Directors, especially the consensus, agreement, and unanimity of all staff, lecturers, students, and trainees of the University, we believe that the University of Social Sciences and Humanities will continue to achieve even greater success”.
With the high consensus and unanimity of all delegates attending, the Conference voted to pass the Resolution with a number of key tasks:
1. Focus on investing in human resource development, supporting staff in standardizing academic ranks and titles of Professor and Associate Professor; have policies to attract high-quality human resources to work at the school.
2. Standardize training processes, promote the development of training programs, closely linked to market needs.
3. Expand international cooperation in training and scientific research, attract a large number of foreign students to study, research and exchange academic knowledge.
4. Promote scientific research and innovation: improve the quality of student scientific research, increase international publications, establish strong school-level research groups, and develop them into strong VNU-level research groups.
5. Ensure additional income for staff and increase compared to last year.
6. Strengthen the application of information technology and digital transformation in university administration, teaching and student affairs.
7. Complete the quality assessment plan of the proposed training programs on schedule, focusing on quality improvement after assessment.
The conference ended in an exciting atmosphere, with consensus and determination to successfully carry out the central tasks and targets set out in the Resolution.
