55 years of the journey of spreading Vietnamese language and culture to the world

On October 28, 2023, the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language and the Faculty of Linguistics, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU (VNU - USSH) organized an exhibition with the theme "55 years of the Journey of spreading Vietnamese language and culture to the world".
The exhibition is part of a series of events of the “Vietnamese Speech Contest for Foreign Students in Vietnam”. This is an opportunity for international students studying at many universities nationwide to learn about the traditions, achievements, and Vietnamese language teaching programs for foreigners of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. Foreign students attending can also refer to books and language learning publications suitable to their needs and experience international cultural spaces through classic literary works of many countries carefully translated into Vietnamese.
Associate Professor, Dr. Trinh Cam Lan - Head of the Department of Linguistics shared: The linguistic research works of the Department of Linguistics are the foundation for compiling publications on teaching Vietnamese to foreigners today.
Associate Professor Dr. Trinh Cam Lan - Head of the Faculty of Linguistics said: The goal of the exhibition is to bring international students to a deeper insight into the Vietnamese language and the long-standing culture of Vietnam. The space displaying in-depth studies on language is a testament to the long history of training and compiling Vietnamese language teaching books, affirming the brand and quality of the Faculty of Linguistics, University of Social Sciences and Humanities.
 
 
 
 
The Faculty of Linguistics is a prestigious unit and the only faculty in the country specializing in linguistics, where many leading lecturers and scientists gather. The Faculty of Linguistics has the mission of training experts in linguistics, Vietnamese linguistics, languages ​​and cultures of Vietnamese ethnic minorities for the domestic and international markets. Since 2008, the Faculty of Linguistics has enrolled students in international level programs. With more than half of the program taught in English and training quality aiming at international standards, the Faculty of Linguistics trains students in the ability to research, teach, manage, and consult on linguistics, languages ​​and cultures; helping learners to continue studying at the master's level in the field/major of Linguistics or other related fields/majors, keeping up with the changing trends of society.
 
Dr. Le Thi Thanh Tam - Head of the Department of Vietnamese Studies and Language emphasized: As the first training institution in the country assigned to train Vietnamese for foreign students since 1968, the Department of Vietnamese Studies and Language is one of the professional consulting contacts for the contest "Vietnamese Speech for Foreign Students in Vietnam". Through the contest and exhibition, the department and the school hope to connect with other Vietnamese training institutions for foreigners nationwide, promote culture, spread national identity and improve intercultural communication skills for international students studying in Vietnam.
 
 
The Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Language under the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU is one of the faculties with a long tradition, with the mission of training high-quality human resources, promoting the passion for research on Vietnamese language and Vietnamese studies, contributing to promoting exchanges and relations between Vietnam and countries around the world. With important experience in advising on policies to honor the Vietnamese language and building a system of Vietnamese language training curriculum and domestic and international training programs, the faculty aims to build new specialized directions in a multidisciplinary direction of both research and training.
