The University of Social Sciences and Humanities (VNU-USSH) is a core member of Vietnam National University, Hanoi. In the context of international integration and the continuous development of society, the importance of training and developing human resources in the field of social sciences and humanities, especially journalism, publishing and communication, is increasingly important. With the constant change of the global political landscape, political communication has become not only a tool for transmitting information, but also an important force influencing the awareness and actions of the community.
Recognizing the importance of this issue, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi has made constant efforts and investments in training and research. The University has established the Institute of Journalism and Communication, one of the two leading training and research institutions on journalism and communication in Vietnam, which has developed and integrated strongly in recent years. In particular, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities is promoting a comprehensive cooperation program with the University of Vienna and the Wienner Zeitung Editorial Board (Austria) to open joint programs on international journalism and communication training.

In the Report on Journalism Training, Vice Principal Dang Thi Thu Huong emphasized: media and journalism are sharp weapons in the struggle for national independence, building and defending the Fatherland, an important component in the Party's ideological work; at the same time, they are a communication channel to change the public's awareness, feelings, attitudes and actions. To fulfill that mission, the press and media team needs to have strong political will, moral qualities, in-depth cultural knowledge and comprehensive social understanding, and professional skills in journalism and communication, and modern communication technology.
Currently, the Institute of Journalism and Communication of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has 2 bachelor's programs (Journalism & Public Relations); 3 master's programs; 1 doctoral program. The Journalists Association, the Publishing Association, related professional associations and press agencies have a mechanism to coordinate, accompany and support training institutions from building output standards, training program content, to participating in training, receiving interns and working students.

Speaking at the meeting, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper Le Quoc Minh shared: As a former student and having participated in the training work of the Institute of Journalism for a long time, I personally highly appreciate the efforts and achievements in developing training work in journalism and communication. Students trained by the School all have good professional expertise and moral qualities, and love their jobs. However, in reality, many journalism students graduate with good grades, but when they go to work, the recruiting agency has to retrain them for at least 6 months. Therefore, the School needs to coordinate more closely with training units and press agencies to expand practice and internship opportunities for students right from the second year.

However, the time spent on practice in the training program and the number of students' articles published in press and media agencies are still low. In the coming time, the training program needs to have in-depth training content on international press law, state regulations, and press ethics, contributing to training journalists who are proficient in their profession and have the courage and professional ethics to report news in a standard, authentic, and humane manner, and to strengthen the connection between press agencies to improve their working skills.
Bà Đinh Thị Mai USSH
Ms. Dinh Thi Mai, Head of the Propaganda Department, Central Propaganda Department: The number of in-depth research projects with policy advice for state management agencies on press and media work is still quite limited. The University of Social Sciences and Humanities has a long history and tradition, always maintaining its position as one of the leading units in the country in training in the fields of Social Sciences and Humanities, where many famous politicians, scientists and managers for the country are trained.
In addition, in the new context, the School has actively innovated in training and scientific research, making great contributions to the journalism career in different periods. The prestige and brand of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities is highly appreciated by students and labor recruitment agencies. Achievements are demonstrated in many aspects: The training program is scientifically and reasonably built, proactively updated and supplemented in a modern direction, balancing between theory and practice, between professional training and ethics. The teaching staff is very dedicated, with high professional qualifications.
Some recommendations from the School, the Central Propaganda Department received and studied to work with professional agencies, ministries and branches to build and issue reasonable policies to manage and develop well the journalism and media career, including training high-quality human resources for this field.
We fully agree with the orientation of developing VNU-USSH into a high-quality training center; an in-depth research and policy consulting agency; enhancing professional training for journalists, reporters, and people working in the press and media nationwide. To implement that orientation, in the coming time, the school needs to pay more attention to educating ethics and political and ideological qualities for the press and media team right in the training program for students and even after graduation, working in press agencies; strengthening connections with domestic and foreign press agencies to enhance practice and foster professional skills for students.
“Relevant ministries and sectors need to grasp the demand for human resources, overcome widespread training, poor quality, many people are trained in journalism but do not have enough professional expertise, especially professional ethics to fulfill their mission well. In the context of strong digital transformation, scientific and technological development, journalism training needs to be innovated to adapt and keep up with new trends” - Head of the Central Propaganda Department emphasized.
After today's meeting, the Head of the Central Propaganda Department suggested that ministries and branches join hands to build a common strategy for developing press and media work in the coming time in line with the new situation, and to build a training program framework and foster press and media teams. There must be a standard program framework that meets the requirements of political tasks, practical requirements, and is in line with modern trends so that we can have good human resources that are up to the task.
On behalf of the VNU-USSH Board of Directors, President Hoang Anh Tuan once again expressed his deep gratitude to Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia for always paying attention and closely directing the School.
