Academic Exchange with Director of Indian Cultural Center

In the opening, Associate Professor, Dr. Do Thu Ha (Head of the Department of Indology) shared: Vietnam and India have a long-standing diplomatic relationship, especially in the field of people-to-people exchange. India is a close friend of the Vietnamese people. In the most difficult times, India has always stood side by side with the Vietnamese people, which means more than any words.

On this occasion, Associate Professor, Dr. Do Thu Ha expressed her most sincere thanks to Mr. Pranay Verma, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India to Vietnam in particular and the Embassy and the Indian Cultural Center in Vietnam in general for giving the school the honor of organizing the lecture as a meaningful activity in the series of activities to celebrate the 150th birthday of the Father of the Indian nation, Mahatma Gandhi.

This activity further strengthens the cultural and educational cooperation between Vietnam and India in general and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities with the Embassy of India in Vietnam in particular. It can be said that the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has always received the attention, help, and cooperation support of the Embassy of India in many scientific, training, and international cultural exchange programs that are very good and effective.

Next, Director of Swami Vivekananda Cultural Center, Dr. GB Harisha delivered a lecture on the topic “Middle Class in Contemporary Indian Society”.

The middle class in India is a large group of 48% of the population. Many of them have risen to hold important roles in contemporary Indian society. This is an interesting and very informative lecture for all interested.

In the next part, Dr. GB Harisha also shared some information about the life of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. This is the first activity in a series of activities to celebrate the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji - the founder of Sikhism in India; a beautiful expression of the tradition of religious tolerance of the present Republic of India.

The exchange session ended with a very lively question and answer session between the speaker and the audience. This was an opportunity for students to better understand Indian culture and society, and also an opportunity for students to exchange and interact with Indian scholars in Vietnam, contributing to the development of a good relationship between the Indian Cultural Center and the Department of Indology in particular and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in general.
