The appointment ceremony was attended by Mr. Giles Lever - Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Vietnam, Vice President of VNU Nguyen Huu Duc, Prof. Dr. Phan Huy Le - President of the Vietnam Historical Science Association and many representatives of leaders of agencies, departments, domestic and foreign partners of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. What will this school be like in the next 5 years and the years to come - that is the question that I always ponder when taking on a new assignment. Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Quang Minh said: “My vision is for the University of Social Sciences and Humanities to become the leading research university in Asia, taking liberal philosophy as its core value, taking the creation of a democratic, friendly, dialogical, critical, constructive and integrated environment as its central task, in order to maximize the creativity and dynamism of all members.”.
On the valuable foundation of tradition and achievements of 70 years of construction and development of a leading university in Vietnam; along with dynamism, creativity and determination to integrate in the context of globalization and regionalization, the University's President expressed his belief in the future development and the ability to realize the set goals.
Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Quang Minh said that the key tasks of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in the coming term are: Continuing to build and perfect a research university model suitable to the circumstances of Vietnam; Taking care of and developing the staff, especially the young staff; Improving the quality and integration of training, especially postgraduate training; Aiming to create top products in scientific research; Making the most of and using all financial resources reasonably.
In particular, Associate Professor Dr. Pham Quang Minh affirmed that the breakthrough task will be to build a professional, open, friendly, and fair university management environment. This learning, research, and teaching environment will help liberate resources, attract talent, and promote creativity. The school must become a reliable cooperation address for domestic and foreign partners.

The ceremony witnessed the emotional sharing of Prof. Dr. People's Teacher Nguyen Van Khanh - former Principal of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, one of the leaders with a long-term association with the University. He has more than 20 years of management experience, 10 years as Principal and 12 years as Secretary of the University's Party Committee.

During his two terms as Rector, Prof. Dr. People's Teacher Nguyen Van Khanh, together with the Party Committee, the Board of Directors and the School's collective, gradually built and realized many policies, bringing important achievements to the School such as: perfecting the organizational structure of units; piloting the construction of a model combining training, research and services in the form of an Institute, or a Service and Tourism company; developing training professions to perfect the school's professional structure; implementing many policies to encourage lecturers and staff to proactively seek and successfully bid for many scientific project topics; promoting international publications; expanding international cooperation, especially with high-ranking universities in the world; encouraging and creating conditions for staff to improve their qualifications and achieve academic degrees; enhancing the international position and reputation of the School...
