Humanities in me is the gate and the path to nurture dreams, the place I choose to "date" my own youth and will be the unforgettable years with "Humanities Shock"...
Humanity in me one day…
The first days of entering the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (USSH), I and more than a thousand students of the QH - 2014 - X course were asked the same question for the report of the civic week, which was: What are your feelings about the University of Social Sciences and Humanities? The question at that time for those who were still not over the joy of the new title "student" was not easy to answer. Because I, like many young people, was still absorbed in the joy of passing the university entrance exam, exploring the capital, making friends, adapting to life...
Summer - the exam season in July 2014, Hanoi welcomed me with summer showers and the harsh sunlight of the exam season. At that time, the sign "University of Social Sciences and Humanities" was like a big dream. The day I submitted only one university entrance exam application was also the day I decided that the gate was the path that would lead me to my goal. At that time, besides the stress of the exam room, the worries of passing or failing, the fatigue of summer days, there was also the beautiful image of the students of the Student Volunteer Team (SVTN XK Team): They helped candidates and their families find a place to stay during the exam days, they took care of the meals of candidates and their families, they found a shade for my mother to wait for her daughter to take the exam for 3 hours, they gave me a bottle of cool water and asked me how I was when I just stepped out of the stressful exam room... These people have now become my brothers and sisters who are as familiar as my family.
Humanity in me in the early minutes…
More than two months of summer have passed, an 18-year-old girl in the highlands of Lang Son has officially become a new student of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. The school that will be here for the next 4 years of study appears in the eyes and thoughts of each new student. From the first lesson about the school's history, we all know that the University of Social Sciences and Humanities is a school with a hidden ancient beauty and a long-lasting scientific tradition. It began with the predecessor of the University of Literature, established by President Ho Chi Minh in 1945, until 1956 when it became the General University. In September 1995, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities was officially named on the basis of the social sciences of the General University. Here, a university, but much more than that, we are proud to step into a prestigious multidisciplinary and multidisciplinary research and training center of high quality in Vietnam.
Also here, for nearly 70 years, is the gathering place of great leaders such as President Ho Chi Minh, leading revolutionary intellectuals such as General Vo Nguyen Giap, Prime Minister Pham Van Dong... Leading professors in the Vietnamese academic community such as Professor Dang Thai Mai, Professor Tran Van Giau, Professor Dao Duy Anh... Along with many famous teachers who have created a long history for the school in particular and contributed to the country's literary career from the transitional period until now in general. With such a tradition, the school is currently in the top 200 leading universities in Asia.
Humanity in me is the big Xung Kich family…
There is a saying about the school by a late teacher who taught here all his life that I really like: "The history of 20 years of existence or 100 years of formation is very glorious but not as important as what will be written tomorrow from today?". That saying is like a conclusion, but also a reminder, encouraging the next generations like us to create glorious colorful pages for the school and the country's knowledge.
Since the day I entered the school, I have studied and participated in activities with the spirit of "What will I write tomorrow from today?". My friends and I were excited with many Youth Union and Association activities welcoming new students. Then, luck and ability brought me through two rounds of selection for the SVTN XK Team. Wearing the green shirt and a volunteer card, I felt mature. Together with Xung Kich, I experienced what volunteering is, long trips, dedication and enjoyment, and how great the joy is when receiving thanks from those I helped. Countless times we clapped and cheered together in the hall on the 8th floor of Building E or on Tuesday nights we "dated" under the periwinkle shade in the yard of AB. I remember the nights with the Team's Media team staying up until dawn to produce the first issue of the new Xung Kich members' newspaper. The achievements cannot be measured by material things but by the excitement of everyone when holding in their hands the book "Green Fire" imprinted with past volunteer journeys and welcoming the new spring. Remembering the "full meals" happily "chatting" after tiring school hours with the Green Shirts. I also love the moments when the whole Team "arranged" to take pictures together and when looking back, all were smiles and green.
The Xung Kich family is also a place where brothers and sisters in the family share difficulties from studying to life. The team leader comforts us by giving more lucky money at the beginning of the year to those who fail Philosophy 2 or retake Logic. We care for each other with good night messages, with songs that dispel all fatigue, and with short and long lines of feelings on social networks. For each comment under a picture or a saying, just a heart sign is enough to share love and sympathize with each other. That's who we are, young people who don't ask for perfection but just live with enthusiasm, passion and sincerity.
As a new student living far from home, sometimes I question my choice of school, sometimes I fear that I will not be guided enthusiastically to keep up with my friends and knowledge. But after more than half a year of studying with new knowledge, valuable life lessons and time accompanying Xung Kich Nhan Van, I have faith in the school I have chosen. I will pursue and reach success for myself one day not too far away under this school roof and with those teammates.
There is another Humanity in me…
Another Humanities in me originated from the story of a lecturer during recess: "Please pay attention, go around Hanoi and see if you can find any school that turns its back on all the hustle and bustle to keep for itself a noble and peaceful appearance like our school? That's right, Humanities has the quiet, ancient, peaceful beauty of the rows of lonely lecture halls tinged with time under the shade of ancient trees. The rows of stone benches are never empty of students, the buildings are named and connected by letters. Somewhere here is also the "legend" of the marble that once existed as the heart of smiles... All of these things make a Humanities charming in a very unique way and I love those things.
For every young person, making the right choice to achieve success is not easy. Once you have chosen, believing and pursuing it is even more difficult. I also wondered about my choice. But Nhan Van gave me the most honest answer, this place helped me realize that I need to live my youthful years full of enthusiasm. Nhan Van will be the place to return to, the shore of knowledge for me in the next 4 years of university. Student life here will be very precious, worth keeping and worth dedicating to the enthusiastic youth with wonderful friends.
Humanities in me... is such a school!
