Join hands to build a civilized social network community
Message4Digigen- Message for the digital generation” is a contest organized by the Hanoi National University Youth Union with the support of Facebook. The host is the University of Social Sciences and Humanities Youth Union, directly implemented by the Digital Humanities Club. The contest is part of the program "Digital Age Thinking" with the cooperation of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and Facebook, aiming to improve digital capacity for students, create a forum for Gen Z youth to exchange, create, develop critical thinking, empathy and respect for each other when participating in the digital environment, towards a generation of responsible digital citizens.
With that in mind, a group of students called S-CTI, including Nguyen Thi Phuong Anh (University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU), Nguyen Kim Tung (University of Social Sciences and Humanities & Faculty of Law, VNU) and Tran Phi Luc (Hanoi University of Industry) registered to participate in the contest with the desire to demonstrate their role as citizens in the digital age. Nguyen Kim Tung shared: “In the digital transformation era, social networks play an important role in connecting people, but there are many challenges for social network users. Without the necessary skills in the digital environment, social networks can have a negative impact on us. Therefore, our group participated in the contest to contribute to building a civilized attitude on social networks.”

Bringing to the Message for the Digital Generation contest, “The team wants to spread the message associated with the team name: “S - CTI”. “S” is the initial letter of the abbreviation for: “Smart social network” - meaning to use social networks wisely to avoid the negative aspects of social networks. “CTI” is the abbreviation of “Civilized Team on the Internet” - a civilized team on the Internet. The slogan: "Think clearly - Speak convincingly" of the team once again affirms the message that S-CTI wants to spread so that the digital generation is a wise generation in life in general and in cyberspace in particular, thereby building a safe, healthy and positive digital environment”, Nguyen Thi Phuong Anh (Leader S-CTI) shared.

Striving to overcome adversity
Talking with the team, the members also confided: “The first opportunity when coming to the competition was that we met and learned valuable knowledge from speakers with expertise and experience in various fields. For me, this knowledge and skills are not only useful in the competition but also valuable provisions for my future work and life. Next, I had the opportunity to compete with talented and diverse teams of students from universities across the country. The approaches of each team helped me learn more. The competition was also an opportunity for us to spread messages as pioneering digital citizens. When we won the prize, we also had the opportunity to register to become interns of the competition's professional sponsor: Dentsu McGarryBowen - a Creative agency with a global network spanning 150 countries, with nearly 120 years of experience in the field of communications and advertising. All of these opportunities are ideal conditions for us to do our best in the competition".
However, there are also many challenges for S-CTI. According to Nguyen Thi Phuong Anh - Leader of S-CTI: “The biggest challenge is that during the entire competition, our team has not had any direct meetings due to the pandemic. There were times when we thought we had to choose a script that was too safe for the work or even could not continue the competition due to the health situation of the members, but with unity and determination to overcome difficulties, our team has always found a solution to finally have a finished product that achieved 95% of the goal we set out”.

And facing those challenges, the members of S-CTI were not discouraged and coordinated very smoothly and well. “The process of developing the idea for the competition video took a lot of time, the scenes in the video were quite far away geographically, but we built a detailed script for each scene, rehearsed with the actors in advance, and assigned tasks so that all members could demonstrate their roles and abilities” - Tran Phi Luc (member of S-CTI) shared. With tireless efforts, on the evening of January 16, 2022, S-CTI excellently won the 1st runner-up position of the competition “Message4Digigen- Message for the digital generation” took place.

Informing young people today about how to use social networks effectively, members said: “Social networks are an online platform with many different formats and features, helping us easily connect from anywhere. However, social networks also have potential risks due to harmful behaviors that cause participants to “lose their lives”, negatively affecting them. Therefore, we need to join hands for a healthy, civilized digital environment, protecting ourselves and everyone around us.”
