On October 17, 2012, the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Language held a ceremony to announce the decision to appoint the Dean and Vice Deans of the Faculty for the 2012-2017 term.

Announcement of the Decision to appoint the Executive Committee of the Faculty of Literature and Vietnamese Language
On October 17, 2012, the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Language held a ceremony to announce the decision to appoint the Dean and Vice Deans of the Faculty for the 2012-2017 term.Attending the ceremony were Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Kim - Vice Rector, Associate Professor Dr. Dang Xuan Khang - Head of TCCB Department, Prof. Dr. Hoang Trong Phien and Prof. Dr. Dinh Van Duc - former Dean of the Faculty, along with teachers, staff, civil servants and students of the Faculty. Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Kim - Vice Rector - presented the decisions of the Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities to appoint: Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Thien Nam to the position of Dean of the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Language for the 2012-2017 term; Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Phuc and MSc. Dao Van Hung to the position of Vice Deans of the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Language for the term of the Dean of the Faculty. Speaking at the ceremony, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Kim acknowledged the contributions of the Board of Directors of the previous term, and expressed his belief in the capacity of the new Board of Directors with cadres who are at the age of great dedication. The Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Language is a unit of special significance and position in the organizational system of the University. Over 40 years of development, the Faculty has made many important contributions to training international experts in Vietnam Studies, diplomats, teaching Vietnamese language and culture to thousands of foreign students... In recent years, the Faculty has taken on a new task of training bachelors in Vietnam Studies for Vietnamese students, with the mission of becoming the country's leading training institution in this field. Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Van Kim said that with a strong staff, with the capacity of the new Executive Committee, the Faculty has important and prerequisite conditions to complete the assigned tasks.

On behalf of the new Executive Committee, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thien Nam thanked the Party Committee, the Board of Directors of the School, and the entire Faculty for their trust, affirming that the responsibility of the upcoming Executive Committee is very heavy. The new Dean reviewed the traditions and achievements of the Faculty, expressed gratitude for the contributions of previous generations of leaders, and also mentioned the basic contents that the Faculty Executive Committee will focus on implementing in this term, namely: Good teachers - Good staff; Good programs - Good textbooks; Good research - Good application; Good international relations - Good professionalization; Improving the material and spiritual life of staff. Regarding training, in parallel with improving the quality and international standardization of existing training programs such as the bachelor's program in Vietnamese studies and the bachelor's program in Vietnamese Language and Culture for foreigners, the Faculty will soon develop and put into training postgraduate programs in these fields.

Sharing the experiences of the previous generation, Prof. Dr. Hoang Trong Phien recalled many memories of the early days of building and establishing the Faculty, when difficulties could not discourage the dedicated teachers. The first head of the Faculty of VNH&TV said that the greatest lesson the Faculty had learned was to pay attention to building a team of highly qualified, enthusiastic, and dynamic staff; to inherit and pass on ideals, responsibilities, and management experience between generations.
