At the end of the meeting, Chairman of the Science and Training Council - Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh concluded some basic points: First, the arrangement of training majors must be based on the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, with adjustments appropriate to the content and characteristics of each major. This adjustment needs to ensure harmony between increasing connectivity but not reducing the ability to orientate specialized knowledge of the major. On that basis, the Council proposed to maintain the current majors and will study and adjust the subjects in the corresponding majors to make them more suitable. Secondly, the organization of training in some majors such as LTH&QTVP, Tourism Studies, Information - Library must ensure both compliance with the major code names of the State agencies and the basic scientific orientation which is the traditional strength of the School. Accordingly, the majorArchival Science and Office Administrationtake the industry code name asArchival scienceand training, granting bachelor's degrees in LTH and QTVP. The Information - Library industry takes the code name ofInformation Technologyand training, granting bachelor's degree in Information and Communications. Tourism Studies major takes the code nameTourism and travel services management, training and granting degrees in Tourism and Travel Services Management. In the future, this industry can be separated and built into two majors: Hotel Management and Tourism Management. Third, the School aims to develop in two directions: both building training majors oriented towards basic science and developing training majors oriented towards application, in which priority is given to investing funds and human resources to develop basic science majors and socialize applied science majors. Fourth, the National Strategy for Science and Technology Development for the 2011-2020 period identifies the task of building and implementing the program for developing Vietnam's Social Sciences and Humanities by 2020. As the leading university in Social Sciences and Humanities in Vietnam, the University needs to have a plan to develop a project for developing Social Sciences and Humanities in the 21st century to fulfill its responsibility for the development of Vietnam's Social Sciences and Humanities, while creating conditions to become one of the 10 basic research organizations in key universities in Vietnam that meet the standards for integration with the region and the world.
