The Admissions Advisory Board of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (VNU) answers questions from June 9 to 20, 2012.
I. Questions about university entrance exam notice
1. When did the school send out the exam notice? Where will my exam notice be sent home or received? The schools assigned to organize the examination of Hanoi National University, including the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, have sent the examination notices to the Departments of Education and Training since the beginning of June 2012. Therefore, candidates need to contact the place where they submitted their application to receive the examination notices. For candidates who register for group C directly at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (code 99), the University will send the examination notices to the correct address stated in the envelope enclosed with the application.
2. Why did I take the D1 exam to enter the University of Social Sciences and Humanities but received an exam notice from the University of Foreign Languages?Because VNU assigns the organization of exams according to exam blocks (University of Natural Sciences organizes exams for blocks A, A1, B; University of Social Sciences and Humanities organizes exams for block C and University of Foreign Languages organizes exams for blocks D1,2,3,4,5,6), all candidates taking exams for blocks A, A1, B at member schools and faculties of VNU will receive a notice from the University of Natural Sciences, similarly, candidates for block C will receive an exam notice from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, and candidates taking exams for blocks D1,2,3,4,5,6 will receive an exam notice from the University of Foreign Languages.
Note: For candidates taking the A, B and D exams at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, when coming to receive the exam notice at the place where they submit their application, they need to clearly state which block they are taking and which school will send the exam notice to avoid the case where the admissions officer misunderstands and only searches among the exam notices sent by the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, leading to not finding the exam notice.
3. Up to now, I still have not received the notice even though I have asked many times at the place where I submitted my application for the National Registration Certificate. What should I do?For candidates taking the A, A1, B exams: Candidates should contact the Admissions Council of the University of Natural Sciences directly for exam information. Contact phone number: 043.8585279. For candidates taking the C exam: Candidates can view exam information on the school's website at: http://ussh.vnu.edu.vn/xem-thong-tin-du-thi-dai-hoc-nam-2012/5980 or call: 04.38585237 (meet Mr. Nguyen Van Hong). For candidates taking the D1,2,3,4,5,6 exams: Candidates should contact the Admissions Council of the University of Foreign Languages directly for exam information. Contact phone number: 04-22411728; 04-22411405; 04-37548137.
II. Other questions
Nguyen Hua Thanh Le @ 21:42, 10/06/2012: I am currently living in Ho Chi Minh City, I am studying a bilingual French program. I want to study clinical psychology in block D3, how do I register for the exam? If I want to take the exam, should I take it in Ho Chi Minh City or do I have to go to Hanoi?
Mr. Nguyen Van Hong, Training Department: The Psychology Department of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities recruits students for all four exam groups: A, B, C, D1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6. Therefore, by the time of submitting the application for university admission in 2013, you can completely submit your application for the Psychology Department of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. After students are admitted, the University will organize the admission of students to study Clinical Psychology. According to the current admission regulations, if you register for the University of Social Sciences and Humanities - VNU, you will have to go to Hanoi to take the exam.
Giang @ 00:38, 11/06/2012: I am currently a student at a university in Hanoi. I would like to ask if I want to register to study an additional major at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities or any other school under the national university (i.e. is it possible to study at two universities at the same time). If so, please let me know more specifically about the conditions or procedures.
MSc. Dinh Viet Hai, Training Department: When you are a student at School A and want to study another major at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, there are two possibilities: - First: You must take the university entrance exam for the major at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities that you want to study. However, the prerequisite for you to take the exam is that you must have written consent from the Principal of the school you are studying at. - Second: You can register for a double degree if you satisfy the conditions specified in Article 32 of the University Training Regulations at Vietnam National University, Hanoi (see the regulations here: http://dt.ussh.edu.vn/dai-hoc-quoc-gia-ha-noi/quy-che-dao-tao-dai-hoc-o-dhqghn-ban-hanh-ngay-26/10/2010) and the major you want to study organizes double degree admissions.
Quynh @ 19:30, 12/06/2012: Dear teachers, where can I see the most accurate structure of the university entrance exam for group C? This year, History and Geography are reduced, so do I have to study the parts that are marked as additional reading and not taught? Thank you teachers!
Mr. Nguyen Van Hong, Training DepartmentAccording to the Admission Regulations, the university entrance exam will not include additional reading.
Bao Tram @ 18:52, June 15, 2012: I am currently preparing to enter grade 12 but have not yet decided on my career. I really like studying literature and have the ability in this subject. I want to take the exam for block D1 but do not know which major to choose. I am planning to take the exam for literature but I see that this major covers many fields. Will I lose my advantage when applying for a job compared to those who major in that major at university?
Mr. Nguyen Van Hong, Training Department: The advantage of applying for a job after graduation depends on many factors, in which the fact that a major has knowledge content covering many other majors is not necessarily a disadvantage but even an advantage for students of that major. Regardless of the major of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, there are subjects belonging to the general knowledge block and at the same time there are subjects belonging to the specific knowledge block of that major. If you like Literature, you can refer to some information about this major at the following address:
http://ussh.vnu.edu.vn/nganh-van-hoc/1681
Quynh @ 19:56, June 15, 2012: I'm also wondering about this: For majors that recruit both block C and D, what percentage of block C and what percentage of block D are taken?
Mr. Nguyen Van Hong, Training Department: Determining the benchmark score for each exam block in a major is based on the exam results of the candidates. Therefore, it is impossible to know in advance what percentage is for each block.
doan minh huong @ 12:46, 16/06/2012: I would like to ask if the tourism industry teaches specifically about the hotel industry? If I register for the hotel and travel management industry, specializing in hotels, will I be able to study the right major?
Mr. Nguyen Van Hong, Training Department: The Tourism and Travel Services Management Department of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities includes 02 majors: travel and hotel. However, the division of majors is only done after the 3rd year and is based on the wishes and academic results of the students, so I cannot register right from the time of enrollment.
Bao Vi @ 08:51, June 17, 2012: Dear teachers, my academic performance is only average, I really like the psychology department of my school but I am not confident enough to take the exam because the entrance score is quite high. I would like to ask: If I register for the exam (I will be in grade 12 next year) but do not have enough points to pass, can I apply to another department in the school or can I only apply to another school? I sincerely thank you.
MSc. Dinh Viet Hai, Training Department: If next year you do not pass the entrance exam for the major you registered for and there is another major (I call it a faculty) in the school that still has additional recruitment quotas and you meet the additional recruitment conditions, you can register for additional recruitment for that major.
An Vi @ 09:21, 19/06/2012: Dear teacher, I would like to ask about the tuition fee of the 2+2 INTERNATIONAL BACHELOR TRAINING PROGRAM with Guangxi University (China). In the Admissions Information I downloaded, it says: "First 2 years of studying at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU: Tuition fee: 2,100,000 VND/month", meaning the monthly tuition fee is 21 million? Is there any mistake? Because I see that this tuition fee is even higher than the tuition fee when studying at Guangxi University. I really hope that the teachers in the advisory board can help me answer, because I am very interested in this program! Thank you very much!
Mr. Nguyen Van Hong, Training Department: The tuition fee for this training program is 2,100,000 VND/month (Two million one hundred thousand VND/month).
loc @ 11:58, June 19, 2012: I am studying journalism at the university but I see that journalism is very related to law so this year I will take the exam for the national university law major. If I pass, will I be able to study a double degree? And will the general subjects be reduced and I will not have to study anymore? And does the school create conditions for students to study 2 majors? Thank you.
MSc. Dinh Viet Hai, Training Department: If you intend to take the entrance exam for the Law major of the Faculty of Law of VNU, you must have the written permission of the Principal. When you are allowed to take the exam and pass the entrance exam, you will be able to study but not with a double degree. However, according to the university training regulations of VNU, the similar subjects between the program you are studying and the Law program will have their results reserved and you will not have to study them again.
hoa @ 17:52, 19/06/2012: Hello teacher. I have a question to ask you: "I see that each major in our school recruits many different groups. So I want to ask if in addition to the quota of each major, there are also quotas for each group? Specifically, I want to ask about the quota of group A of the management science major." Thank you teacher.
Mr. Nguyen Van Hong, Training Department: Determining the benchmark score for each exam block in a major is based on the exam results of the candidates. Therefore, there is no specific target for each exam block in a major. Please continue to ask questions.
