At 7:00 a.m. on June 5, 2010, the yard of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities was bustling with the graceful ao dai of students defending their graduation theses. * Faculty of SociologyThe graduation thesis defense began on June 3, 2010 with the opening of the Sociology major (48 students) and on June 5, 2010, the thesis defense session of students majoring in Social Work (45 students). According to the comments of the teachers in the Council, this year, the quality of the theses is much better than last year. For the Sociology major, the thesis defense topics are very rich and diverse, focusing on prominent and hot current issues of society, demonstrating the students' interest in the movements of life. The research methods are also well applied, suitable for the research purposes of the topics. For the Social Work major, students are interested in social work models related to organizations, centers and communities that are helping and supporting the disadvantaged and those in especially difficult circumstances. By applying social investigation methods, social work methods with individuals, social work with groups, social work with communities, students have demonstrated their deep understanding of social issues. Dr. Nguyen Thi Kim Hoa - Head of the Faculty of Sociology - said: This year's graduation thesis recorded the remarkable progress of students not only in choosing and implementing topics but also in the presentation of the thesis. The theses were all presented beautifully, with many color photos and illustrative charts. The layout of the thesis was reasonable, the writing style was clear and coherent, the slides were elaborate and scientific. Moreover, students presented their theses with great confidence, demonstrating solid knowledge. Although there were some minor errors in spelling and arrangement of references, they were insignificant. As a result, students from both majors of the Faculty of Sociology achieved thesis scores of 9 or higher.
