At the meeting, Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Thi Minh Hoa introduced to the delegation basic information about the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU. As a leading training and research center in the country in social sciences and humanities, the University currently has 15 faculties, one institute and one affiliated department. The university's team of experts includes about 10 professors, more than 100 associate professors and more than 200 PhDs. The total number of students in the university is about 13,000, including about 1,000 international students. The university currently has links with more than 300 partners who are leading universities in the region and around the world.
Responding to concerns about the role of women in the school, Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Thi Minh Hoa shared: Currently, women account for 54% of the total number of school staff, including 2 female professors and 40 female associate professors. The whole school has 3/9 female department heads, 3 deans and 16 deputy deans.
Speaking at the meeting, Ms. Ilavanh Keobounphanh highly appreciated the position and reputation of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU. She hoped that in the near future, the University would send delegations to visit Laos to implement signed cooperation documents as well as exchange and share experiences with Lao universities. Ms. Ilavanh Keobounphanh also highly appreciated the educational level of Vietnamese women. She added that Laos is currently building and organizing many promotion offices for women's advancement, aiming to care for and support Lao women in social life, especially to improve the quantity and quality of female intellectuals.
