With 4 goals and only conceding once in the final match, the team of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities won the VNU men's student football championship on the afternoon of May 29, 2010.Within the framework of the 2010 Hanoi National University Sports Festival, the men's student football event was held at the University of Foreign Languages (VNU) Stadium with the participation of 9 teams from member units: University of Social Sciences and Humanities, University of Natural Sciences, University of Technology, University of Foreign Languages, University of Education, University of Economics, Faculty of Law, Faculty of International Studies and Training Technology Center. With the competition format on a 7-a-side field, 9 teams were divided into three groups to compete in a round-robin (starting from April 10) to select the 3 group winners and the highest second-place team to enter the semi-finals. Having successfully defeated the Faculty of Law and the Faculty of International Studies, the two "neighboring" teams, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and the University of Natural Sciences, advanced to the final match on the afternoon of May 29, 2010.
In the first minutes of the match, the ball was mainly concentrated in the midfield area. From a counter-attack, the defender of the University of Natural Sciences was forced to foul Ngoc Hung (14) so that the University of Social Sciences and Humanities team was awarded a free kick right in front of the penalty area. Dinh Cong Giap (13) did not miss the opportunity with a strong and accurate shot, opening the score of the match in the 6th minute.
In the 15th minute, Nguyen Anh Tuan of the University of Science reduced the score to 1-2 after a chaotic situation in front of the goal of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. However, 3 minutes before the end of the first half, Dinh Cong Giap (13) managed to score his second goal in the match. Leading 3-1, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities played quite comfortably in the second half with an effective defense-counterattack strategy. In the 41st minute, Mai Linh (7) extinguished all hopes of the University of Science with a gentle header, raising the score to 4-1. This was also the final score of the match. The 2010 VNU Sports Football Tournament marked the success of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. In addition to the championship of the male student football team, the female student team also won the runner-up position, and the male staff team tied for third place. The organizing committee of the sports tournament will hold a closing ceremony and award ceremony on June 3.
