Dr. Ho Thi Thanh (Department of Southeast Asian Studies, Faculty of Oriental Studies) presented a report on the conditions for preparing for enrollment.
The Faculty of Oriental Studies and the Department of Southeast Asian Studies continue to expand cooperation with institutes, research centers and universities at home and abroad, and embassies of various countries to increase opportunities for student exchange, award scholarships to students, invite volunteer lecturers to teach, develop documents... for the Southeast Asian Studies program. In the coming time, the Faculty of Oriental Studies plans to coordinate with many units to organize a number of seminars, discussions or events... to introduce Southeast Asian Studies more widely to society.
The delegation of VNU officials highly appreciated the preparation work and practical conditions for implementing training in Southeast Asian Studies at the University and predicted that in the coming time, this will be one of the majors that "attracts" candidates to VNU. In particular, the context of expanding development cooperation between Vietnam and countries in the Southeast Asian region as well as the increasingly enhanced position of the ASEAN region has made the job demand for Southeast Asian Studies graduates increasingly high.
Representatives of the functional departments of VNU also expressed their expectation that the Faculty and the University will promote cooperation with domestic and international partners, especially combining resources with units in VNU to serve the development of this field of study, creating a unique mark in the training of Southeast Asian studies at VNU. In addition, the Faculty needs to identify key research directions on Southeast Asian studies associated with training activities, aiming to build strong research groups at VNU level in research fields of Southeast Asian studies.
