Minister Nguyen Kim Son was appointed Chairman of the State Council of Professors.

Previously, on April 8, 2021, at the 11th session, the National Assembly passed a Resolution to elect Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Kim Son - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the Council, Director of Hanoi National University to hold the position of Minister of Education and Training for the 2021-2026 term.

According to Decision No. 37/2018/QD-TTg promulgating regulations on standards and procedures for considering recognition of qualifications and appointment of the titles of professor and associate professor; procedures for considering cancellation of recognition of titles and dismissal of the titles of professor and associate professor, State Council of Professors.

Accordingly, the Prime Minister assigned the Minister of Education and Training - Chairman of the State Council of Professors to decide on the appointment of members of the State Council of Professors and consider adjusting and supplementing them regularly every year.

The term of the State Council of Professors is 5 years. Members of the State Council of Professors shall serve no more than 2 consecutive terms. The Chairman, Vice Chairman and members of the Council shall work part-time. The Vice Chairman and Secretary General shall work full-time.

This Decision takes effect from May 25, 2021; replaces Clause 1, Article 2 of Decision No. 1814/QD-TTg dated December 24, 2018 of the Prime Minister on the establishment of the State Council of Professors for the 2018-2023 term.
