The conference listened to Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan (Vice Principal of the School) present a summary of the 2019-2020 School Year Summary Report and the 2020-2021 School Year Task Plan.
Conference Executive Board
In the past year, the School has implemented many activities to improve the quality of training. Regarding full-time university training: in 2019, the total number of applications for admission to the School was 39,980, an increase of more than 10,000 compared to the total number of applications in 2018. The rate of graduating students with excellent academic performance or higher remained stable at 48% compared to the same period last year. The number of students graduating early from 2016 up to the first batch of 2020 was 225 students. Regarding postgraduate training, the School recruited 348 masters, reaching 87% of the assigned target, and 50 doctors, reaching 100% of the assigned target; organized the defense and award of degrees to 456 undergraduate students and 100 doctoral students.

The application of IT in teaching and learning activities has been increasingly improved with 815 classes taught online during the time affected by the COVID-19 epidemic. More than 400 lecturers have been trained in the application of IT in teaching.
Also in the past year, the School completed the construction of 3 new training majors including Cultural Studies, Korean Studies and Vietnamese Studies taught in English; built a Master's program in Journalism and Media Management and enrolled students in the first batch of 2020; completed the construction of 01 International Studies CLC training program.
Regarding scientific research, in the 2019-2020 school year, despite being affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, the School successfully organized 10 scientific seminars/conferences, including 5 international scientific seminars; carried out 47 VNU-level topics and 21 school-level topics. The School's staff published 15 monographs and textbooks, including 02 monographs published in English; published 350 research articles in the scientific journal catalog system of the State Council of Professors; 50 international works (9 articles in the ISI/Scopus system and book chapters published by prestigious international publishers). Successfully organized the annual scientific conference of young staff and university students and the scientific conference of students.

Regarding cooperation and development, the School continues to sign and extend 12 cooperation documents with international partners; continues to effectively implement international cooperation programs and projects such as: TOURIST, a project sponsored by the KAS Institute (Germany) for international scientific conferences. Currently, there are 48 foreign lecturers participating in teaching and scientific research at the School; the number of students of the School going abroad to participate in study, exchange and cultural exchange is 133; the number of staff of the School going abroad to participate in study, exchange and research is 188. The total number of news articles posted on the School's official website is over 1,000, with a series of media articles on the topic of preventing the Covid-19 epidemic.
The work of organizing cadres, planning - finance; administration - synthesis; quality assurance; inspection and law; political ideology, emulation and rewards, student affairs, national defense and security also achieved many progressive results.
In 2019-2020, the School identified key tasks such as: arranging and restructuring the industry and major; continuing online teaching and learning activities towards standardization, synchronization and quality; summarizing the Scientific Research Orientation for the period 2010 - 2020 and building the Scientific Research Orientation for the period 2021 - 2030; completing the targets on developing the staff team, gradually implementing the staff development strategy for the period 2020 - 2025; successfully completing the quality assessment of the Bachelor of Political Science training program according to AUN - QA standards and peer evaluation of the Bachelor of Political Science training programs; increasing the proportion of additional revenue sources; balancing funding sources to ensure payment of additional income equal to or higher than in 2019; promoting student support and service activities; effectively implementing the ability to find jobs for students after graduation;...
Technical team on duty at the Conference
Speaking at the conference, Associate Professor Dr. Dinh Van Huong (Chairman of the VNU Trade Union) highly appreciated the encouraging achievements of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in the past school year. In the context of many fluctuations in the domestic and international situation, especially before the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, the University has had effective and timely solutions to overcome difficulties and ensure the reasonable targets set.

In the coming school year, the University needs to continue to integrate and join hands to carry out the five key tasks that VNU has set out in the Conference to summarize the work of 2019 and deploy the plan of tasks for 2020: develop a Decree and Regulations on organization and operation of VNU in accordance with the revised Law on Higher Education; build a technological infrastructure to implement the orientation of digital transformation in education; continue to comprehensively innovate teaching activities, focusing on the teaching staff; continue to innovate the management mechanism of scientific and technological research in the direction of research, experimentation, and transfer to the community; accelerate the construction progress of VNU facilities in Hoa Lac.
The conference also listened to the Summary Report of the emulation movement of the 2019-2020 school year and launched the emulation movement of 2019-2020, the Summary Report of the activities of the People's Inspectorate in the 2019-2020 school year. The reports received many enthusiastic comments from the school's staff and lecturers.
Delegates follow and participate in discussions and contribute ideas via Zoom Meeting software.
In general, the opinions expressed were in agreement with the key tasks set for the new school year. In addition, the staff and lecturers also gave their opinions on improving facilities, compiling textbooks, restructuring training programs, financial autonomy, etc.
At the end of the conference, delegates listened to the Draft Resolution of the Conference of Civil Servants and Public Employees for the 2020-2021 school year and voted to approve a number of key indicators in the Draft Resolution.
