- By applying the basic concepts of classical Indian poetics, the thesis has examined each of Tagore's plays, pointing out the basic characteristics of character types, situations, conflict types, language... in Tagore's plays.

- Point out specific manifestations of the modernization process in Tagore's plays, thereby evaluating the writer's role in the modernization process of Indian literature.

- Affirming the traditional elements preserved in Tagore's literary style, thus drawing the conclusion: Tagore has selectively inherited the quintessence of Indian literature in a reasonable way in the new era of his homeland as well as the world.

- Is a reference document for teaching and research in general education, university and postgraduate programs.

- Introducing an author (R. Tagore) and a great literature (India) that has not received due attention in Vietnam.

- Is a practical example showing the effectiveness of Oriental aesthetic theory when applied to examine problems of Oriental literature.

- Systematize Oriental aesthetics to form an effective set of tools for studying Oriental culture and literature, adding new results to the direction of applying Western theories in studying Oriental literature.

- By using the classical Indian poetics' concepts, the thesis surveys each Tagore's drama, showing the basic characters in system of figures, type of situations, type of conflictions, language ... in Tagore's drama.

- To point out the clear expressions in Tagore's drama modernization, so judge Tagore's position in Indian literature modernization.

- To prove the traditional signs which are continued in Tagore's literatural style, thus give the result: Tagore inheritances the essential classical Indian literature reasonably in new age, both of his own country and the world.

- To be the references for teaching and reserching in the schools and universities.

- To introduce a great writer (Tagore) and a huge literature (Indian) which are not taken care of in Vietnam correctly.

- To be a real example which shows the effectiveness of Easthern aesthetics' theories in studying Easthern literatural problems.

- To systematize Easthern aesthetics' theories to build an useful methods for studying Easthern culture, literature, add new results in studying Easthern literature by Westhern theories.

- To expand and systematize basic Indian poetics' concepts to research the East South of Asia's literature.
