1. History of formation
The Faculty of Management Science was established and developed in a leading prestigious training environment in Vietnam, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (formerly Hanoi University of Letters, established under Decree No. 45 signed by President Ho Chi Minh on October 10, 1945, followed by Hanoi University of Science, established on June 5, 1956).
The University of Social Sciences and Humanities began undergraduate training in Social Management in 1995 and graduate training in Science and Technology Management in 1999, and began building a training program on intellectual property in 1999. These are the foundations for the development of the Faculty of Management Science today.
In response to the country's demand for management human resources, on September 30, 2002, the Director of Hanoi National University signed Decision No. 652/TCCB to establish the Department of Management Science under the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, on the basis of merging the Department of Social Management (under the Faculty of Philosophy) and the Department of Epistemology (under the Faculty of Sociology). Then, on August 11, 2006, the Director of Hanoi National University signed Decision No. 782/QD-TCCB on the establishment of the Faculty of Management Science. The main functions and tasks of the Faculty are undergraduate and postgraduate training and scientific research in the fields of management science: science and technology management, human resources management, social policy, intellectual property management, public administration management and public policy.
Management Science is a field of study that has both theoretical and practical significance. This is the field of study assigned by the School to train, conduct in-depth research on management science and provide human resources for management at all levels to serve the cause of national construction and development.
Through the practical implementation of training tasks over the past 20 years, the Faculty of Management Science has continuously developed, diversified its majors, training systems, and improved the quality of training and scientific research to effectively meet the practical needs of management human resources.

5. Outstanding achievements

  • By 2012, the Faculty had completed all levels of training: undergraduate, master and doctoral. Thousands of bachelors, masters and doctors have graduated and are currently working in many leadership and management positions from central to local levels, in the public and private sectors.
  • The first unit in the country to train masters and doctors in Science and Technology Management.
  • The first training unit for Master of Science and Technology Management under Project 165 of the Central Party Organizing Committee.
  • The only unit in the country that trains bachelors in Intellectual Property, Culture and Management Ethics.
  • Lecturers in the Faculty of Science studied and graduated from leading international universities such as UK, France, Australia, Ireland, New Zealand, Soviet Union (former), Slovakia...
  • The Faculty has successfully chaired and implemented many State-level research projects. During the period 2002-2024, the Faculty has successfully chaired dozens of State-level projects, Protocol projects, VNU projects, NAFOSTED projects, provincial/municipal projects, and grassroots projects; published textbooks, reference books, monographs, and books ordered by the National Assembly and People's Councils to serve National Assembly deputies of the 13th and 14th terms, and elected representatives...
