General introduction
The Center for Research and Application of Culture and Arts (CART) was established on the basis of the Film Project of the Faculty of Literature funded by the Ford Foundation. The Center has the function of researching, applying and providing professional training on issues related to the fields of culture, arts and other fields of socio-cultural activities. Specifically:
- Research and apply issues in the fields of culture, literature, cinema, theater, television, and publishing.
- Open and coordinate professional training for students inside and outside the school in the fields of composition, screenwriting for film, stage and television, literature, editing, and publishing.
- Support faculties and schools in consulting on forecasting cultural and artistic human resources, serving training and enrollment work.
- Cooperate with domestic and foreign organizations to organize scientific seminars, serving research and training work.
Currently, the Center is in the process of completing a project to develop into an Institute of Culture and Arts under the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU.

Typical activities
- Organize short-term training courses on screenwriting skills and film criticism theory (in coordination with the Department of Art Studies, Faculty of Literature).
- Coordinate and contact a number of Theaters in Hanoi so that students have the opportunity to participate in performances of new works of the Theater.
- Organize printing and publishing of works and works on cultural and artistic content compiled by staff of the Faculty of Literature, Department of Art Studies and the Center.
- Organize seminars and scientific workshops on cultural and artistic topics, and issues related to cultural and artistic training in universities.
- Support and coordinate with the Department of Art Studies to maintain film screening activities and exchanges between members of the Cinema Club and filmmakers every month.
- Coordinate with publishers (Literature, Nha Nam, Women...) to organize exchanges and discussions around new works, works that create public opinion; organize reading and writing contests about literary works among students.
