Political Science Faculty Party Cell: Marks of a Term

Currently, the Party Cell of the Faculty of Political Science has 25 party members, of which 20 party members are staff of the Faculty, 05 party members are students. After 9 years of establishment and development, the Faculty has made progress in terms of scale, quality of training, scientific research and international cooperation. The prestige and reputation of the Faculty of Political Science are affirmed domestically and internationally.

Political and ideological work: Unity creates consensus

The important highlight of the Party Cell of the Faculty of Political Science in the past term was to regularly practice democracy, solidarity, and create high consensus within the unit. The Party Cell has built a united and unified collective, promptly grasping and resolving arising issues to stabilize the ideology of cadres, trainees, and students. Political and ideological work is implemented in conjunction with professional activities of cadres, through specific activities of trainees and students. The Party Cell and Party Committee are a collective of solidarity and high unity in ideological awareness and action, promoting the comprehensive leadership role in building and developing the Faculty.

Organization, degree standards and expert training

During the last term, the organization of the Faculty was adjusted to suit the new situation on the basis of streamlining the focal points. Currently, the Faculty has 03 departments: Department of Ho Chi Minh Studies, Department of Political Science and Department of Political Communication. The Faculty has also made initial preparations for upgrading the Faculty to the Institute of Political Science to increase the initiative and dynamism in organizing, developing training, scientific research, international cooperation, Faculty management and increasing financial resources. The improvement of professional qualifications, skills, foreign languages, academic qualifications and expert training for staff and lecturers has been focused on and closely cared for by the Faculty's Board of Directors. Many staff and lecturers of the Faculty have been given opportunities to study at home and abroad, participate in seminars in Korea, Germany, Russia, Laos, China, the United States, India, etc. In addition, the Faculty also organizes to welcome many international scholars to seminars, teach and work at the Faculty such as experts from Korea, Germany, the United States, India, etc. to meet the requirements of building a research university of the School. The quality of the staff has made significant progress. During the 2017-2020 term, the Faculty had 02 party members appointed to the title of Associate Professor, 03 party members successfully defended their doctoral theses, 03 party members passed the postgraduate entrance exam, 01 party member successfully defended his master's thesis, 01 party member graduated with a second degree in English.

Professional work: Quality, development

In addition to maintaining traditional short-term training forms, the Faculty has also expanded new short-term training forms, based on cooperation with foreign partners such as: inviting domestic and foreign experts to give presentations on specialized topics for staff, lecturers, students, trainees and postgraduates; signing memorandums of understanding on lecturer, trainee and student exchange programs with foreign partners. Postgraduate recruitment has been focused on, recruitment methods are regularly innovated to attract postgraduates and graduate students. Each staff and lecturer in the Faculty is always proactive and directly involved in recruitment work, many new promotion channels have been deployed. Therefore, in recent times, the Faculty of Political Science has always been among the leading units in postgraduate recruitment of the University.

The conversion of undergraduate and postgraduate training programs in the two majors of Political Science and Ho Chi Minh Studies has been well implemented and updated in an open and interconnected manner in line with the demands of the human resource market. The Faculty has a plan to build new majors and majors at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels to meet social needs.

The Faculty's scientific research activities have achieved outstanding results. Over 95% of the Faculty's staff and lecturers have directly chaired or participated in many scientific research topics at all levels (State level under the KX04 program, Northwest; Nafosted topics, Ministry level, National University level and grassroots level). Many research results of these topics have been distilled into recommendations and policy advice for central and local agencies, as well as effectively applied in practice. At the end of 2019, the staff of the Faculty of Political Science successfully registered 04 National University level topics out of a total of 13 topics belonging to the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. During the last term, the staff of the Faculty published over 60 domestic works, especially about 20 international works, including 01 work in the list of prestigious international journals.

In the past three years, the Faculty has organized more than 20 presentations and seminars by domestic and foreign experts for staff, students, graduate students and postgraduates on topics related to Political Science, International Relations, Ho Chi Minh Studies... The Faculty has been the focal point for organizing 10 international conferences, seminars and scientific discussions at the Faculty and School levels, including seminars held abroad. After the seminars, the research results are socialized into conference proceedings, reference books, and monographs published domestically or abroad.

Development cooperation is a strength of the Faculty of Political Science. The Faculty has built up its reputation and maintained good cooperative relationships with traditional partners, while expanding cooperative relationships with new partners such as universities in Korea, Russia, China, India, the United States, Japan, Laos, etc. International cooperation brings many benefits to the Faculty, contributing to enhancing the position of the Faculty and the University in training, scientific research, development cooperation, while also improving the professional qualifications, material and spiritual life of the Faculty's cadres and party members.

With the slogan of action for the term 2020-2022: “Proactive, innovative, and developing”, The Party Cell of the Faculty of Political Science strives to successfully complete the assigned tasks: building a clean and strong Party organization; developing the organization; strengthening the standardization of lecturers and training experts; improving the quality of training; making breakthroughs in postgraduate training, scientific research and development cooperation; improving the lives of Party members and cadres; building the Faculty into a prestigious national and international academic center specializing in political science, contributing to the development of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi.
