Bac Ai 1 Primary and Secondary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities is a school in a particularly difficult area located in De Tham commune. The school is located in Bac Ai village, De Tham commune, Trang Dinh district, Lang Son province with hilly and mountainous terrain, covered in fog all year round. The school's students are mainly from particularly difficult villages of De Tham commune (Coc SLay village, Bac Ai village) and particularly difficult villages of Hoa Tham commune, Binh Gia district (Doi Can I village, Doi Can II village, Ban Pin village). The school organizes boarding meals for students because most of them go to school far from home, the roads are difficult to travel, the red dirt roads are slippery, many sections of the road along the hillside are very dangerous, especially in the rainy season.
The school's boarding house (before being rebuilt) was degraded and unsafe for students, especially during the rainy season.
In the 2023-2024 school year, the school has a total of 168 students. Of which, 139 are boarding students, 1,168 are boarding students. The school has encountered many difficulties in terms of accommodation for boarding students. Of the 139 boarding students, 37 have a place to sleep, 19 are living in a shack or in a house near the school, 25 are sleeping in the classroom, and 58 are not having a place to take a nap because the school does not have a room for them to rest. Students are at an active age, and there is no place to rest at noon, so they have to play and run around all afternoon, which is very tiring, and the risk of accidents is also constantly lurking. Therefore, this is a really necessary project for the school.
